SOURCE: channel will not set just continues to scan.

Your radio is in scan mode. You can shut off scan by referring to page 8 in the user guide http://www.giantintl.com/ContentManage/manuals/Moto/T4500_User_Manual_E.pdf

One of my T4500 radios does the same thing. When I transmit or the radio is receiving, the interval is interrupted and it takes another 12 seconds to make a popping noise. Weird! I tried to post this as a comment but FixYa kicks out an error so apologies for posting it as a solution!

How to get rid from continuous hissing sound of MOTOROLA T4500 ?

Many times the hissing can be caused by a bad or poorly charged battery, or by activating an interference eliminator code in all your radios. First, we would suggest changing the battery, or exchanging it with a known good radio's battery to see if the problem clears up. Environmental RF can also cause issues, so you might check to see if the same problem exists in a different location.

If these suggestions do not solve the problem, then you possibly have an internal issue which would deem the radio non-repairable. Parts and schematics were never offered for this line of radios.

How do I use my T4500 Motorola Talkabout?

Here is a link to the user guide for the T4500 radio: http://www.giantintl.com/radiopdfs/manuals/US/T4500.pdf

A few tips: Set your frequencies to be the same on both radios. Put your code and any special features on Zero or Off, until you feel comfortable with the use of the radio and are ready to turn them on.

Best regards.

One of my walky talkys(motorola T4500) makes an extra beeping noise whenever i turn it on. This noise also shortens up what people are saying before they finish talking. How do I fix that?

What you might be experiencing is the Talk Confirmation Tone aka Roger Beep. I have looked through the T4500 manual and do not see any instructions for turning it off, just that it is listed as a feature. However, something you might try is holding in the + (plus) button while turning on the radio and see if it disables the feature. This method is used on many of the other TalkAbout models.

If it is not the Roger Beep, it could be a low battery beep. But from your explanation it sounds more like a Roger Beep.

One of my Motorola T4500 walkie talkies has a ghost inside it....

Moisture and oxidation on the circuit board will create noise during transmission. You may remove the cover and wipe around microphone and the circuit.Ensure its dry. Cover it back and test.
