Question about HP PSC 2175 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Scanner stopped working

I have an hp psc 2175v all-in-one. For some reason the scanner will no longer work. When you click on scan the select device box is empty. But both the printer and the copier functions still work. I am running Windows XP Home Edition. It has always worked with no problems. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. Donna

Scanner isn't working with scan button. How do I manually scan using computer?

Go to start (bottom left of main windows desktop), then programmes, then accessories and select 'paint'. Then within 'paint' go to 'file' and select the option 'from scanner or camera'. Select HP printer, which hopefully is an option, then follow on screen directions......
Mine stopped scanning when I bought a new Vista PC. Apparently the drivers won't run the scanner in the old way - but hopefully this'll work for you.

Hp psc 1100/1200 all-in-one does not scan with vista..

I had the same problem. Click Start, Windows Photo Gallery, from that screen, you can select import from scanner. The 1200 series printer should be a choice to select. You are then able to preview the image or document, then press scan. I found this out through the HP support website.

Do not know how to use scanner

If you have install HP s/w photosmart essential, you can scan material into coputer by selecting the get image function then select from scanner. A window will pop up. In which you can change the scanner parameter setup or accept the pre-scan quality and do the scan right away. Another method is in printer and fax folder, you can find the icon for scanner is located here too. Just click on the icon for scanner then you can get the scan result too. Hope this can help you.

HP PSC 1110 all-in-one does not scan with windows vistas. I do not want to use ms paint is there any other soluion

I had this problem. If you like my solution please consider making a small contribution (e.g. 1$) to a charity of your choice.

For use on Windows Vista
Launch "Windows Photo Gallery", click on file and select "Import from camera or scanner". If your scanner is connected and powered up, your device(e.g Hp psc 1110) should be displayed in the "Scanners and Camera" section. Double click on your scanner in this window. A dialog box should be displayed. It will allow you to set scan characteristics and preview your scan. happy scanning !!

As far as i know "HP Director" has been replaced on Vista with the method described above.

Scanner not working

Hi,

I understand that you are unable to scan after upgrading the compuer from ME to XP.

Please follow the below given instructions to resolve the issue.

Check for the communication between the computer and the printer as scanning needs bidirectional communication unlike printing.

To isolate the issue I suggest you to try scanning from the Windows Image acquisition(WIA) wizard on the computer.

Follow the below steps to Scan using WIA

1.Verify that the all-in-one product power is turned on and the printer cable is properly connected.

2.Click Start then Click All Programs then Click Accessories then Click Scanner and Camera Wizard.

3.Follow the Scanner and Camera Wizard instructions to scan images to the computer.

If you are unable to scan using WIA, confirms that the issue is with USB drivers, please follow the below given instructions to refresh USB drivers:

1. Save and close all programs that are currently running.
2. Click Start, select Shut Down, and choose Restart the computer.
3. Press the F8 function key, this will display the Windows Startup menu.
4. Select Safe mode.
5. After Windows loads in Safe mode, right-click the My Computer icon and select Properties.
6. Select the Hardware tab and click the Device Manager button.
7. In the Device Manager Window, double-click the Universal Serial Bus controllers.
8. Right-click the device listed under Universal Serial Bus controller and select Uninstall.
9. Click OK to confirm the removal of the device.

NOTE: Repeat steps 8 and 9 until all the devices under Universal Serial Bus Controller are removed.

The USB port is now uninstalled.

Now, restart the system. The system automatically detects and reinstalls the USB port.

Then try scanning from WIA and if that works try scanning from HP Director.

Please click on Start>>Programs>>HP>>HP Director.

If unable to scan from HP Director, search for the file " hpqscnvw " in C Drive which is the executable file for Scanning.

Double click on My Computer to open it > C Drive > Programs files > HP or Hewlett Packard > Digital Imaging > Bin Folder. Check for the file " hpqscnvw " there.

If found double click on the file to and try scanning. You can also save the short cut of the file to desktop and can use that file for scanning.

Run the scan diagnostic utility to resolve the issue.

If you are able to scan from computer, then follow the instructions from the below given article to scan from the printer front panel.

Scanner stopped working

Okay It is probably a driver issue, to solve this follow this: 1. Right-Click the "MY COMPUTER" icon on the desktop. 2. Select "MANAGE" 3. In the window that pops up, find the option "DEVICE MANAGER" in the left window pane and select it. 4. In the main window browse down the list of devices until you come to "IMAGING DEVICES", expand it and see if your scanner is there. 5. If it is not there you need to install it as well as check any cables connecting it if it is there but has a yellow triangle with either an '!' or '?' covering it< you need to download the drivers from HP 6. If you do indeed need the drivers for your scanner here is a link to the drivers for your scanner just copy and past the link: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=441115&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&submit.y=0&submit.x=0&lang=en&cc=us Just select your operating system and download and install the file on the page that follows Good Luck i hope this helps!
