8860 Reconfigures itself

I have a problem with the Xerox 8860. I configured the printer to print directly from tray 1. The printer seems to want to reconfigure itself on occaision. It will seem to randomly print from another tray. I've replaced the printer and the second has the same problem as the first. Any ideas?

Gotta be a setting on the machine. Set this to say A4 and make sure the same is set in your print dialogue box

Xerox Phaser 5500 will only print if started in the manual tray.

Check your printer setup/default settings on the printer. Make sure you are using the right paper in the trays and that they are set properly to the proper paper tray & size. You have to have it right in all locations for it to work right, or it will default to by-pass tray. 1st in the settings, 2nd in the trays, and 3rd in your printer software. Good Luck!!

Getting a false error message that the ink/toner is empty and wastebin is full when i print to my phaser 8860 from a macbook on 10.6 (networked printer)

The waste bin full error can occur if the waste bin was not removed from the machine for over 10 seconds when it was emptied. Please remove the waste bin and wait for a full 10 to 20 seconds before replacing the Waste bin.

If the message still displays turn off the machine and leave it off for 1 minute then turn the machine back on.

Then run software update to make sure you have the latest OS updates.

Then delete the printer and re-add the printer.

When we print to Xerox Phaser 6180 the print job prints the first page from tray 2 and then wants tray 1 loaded with paper to finish the print job. The paper in tray 2 is 8.5 x 11 the same that is...

I suspect the machine is on a network and the driver is installed on the server. Your workstations driver properties are probably not the same. i have seen this problem quite a few times and its always been down to configuration and not a fault of the printer. Basically a printer prints what it is sent and to where it is sent.

Good luck

Our Xerox 8860 is printing code instead of prints, even hooked directly up to a Mac or PC. Drivers have been updated and the printer has been added over and over...any ideas? Thank you so much!

This would normally suggest a corrupted file. Try printing from different software. It is also possible that the job is stuck in your print queue so even after rebooting, it is still trying to print the same corrupted file. You would need to delete the file from your print queue or from the printers front panel.
Hope this helps.

My Xerox Phaser 8860 keeps waking and running during standby, is this normal?

The machine will try to keep its temperature at a constant level so this is normal. Also, if you have intelligent ready enabled, the machine will wake up at certain times when it thinks you are going to print. i.e. If you always use the printer at say 3pm to print out the days post, the machine remembers this and will wake at about 2.55pm and warm itself to a ready to print state.
Hope this helps.

Printing from wrong tray

I suffered from the same problem for a long time. We got Xerox Phaser 8550 and 8560 here. I choose on computer "tray 2" but the printer just print from tray 1 which is empty.

Today i figured it out! It's some configuration at the printer. So go to "Paper tray setp" -> "Tray 1 mode" and "Tray 2 mode" -> change to "static".

I figure it's like this. Before it was "dynamic", it probably means the printer decides it's better to use tray 1 even though you choose tray 2 - and this decision is stupid. Changing it to "static" fixes this.

Let me know whether this works for you too!

Xerox Phaser 7750 - Tray 1 streaks on prints

If you put Tray 2 in Tray 1's spot with the heavy stock in Tray 1 (now in tray 2's spot) and print from it, does the problem persist?

This may help...

Paper trays

1. Remove the print driver on the PC if this is a local shared printer.

2. Re-share the printer will cause the driver to re-install.

Now the next way to fix issues like this too go to step 3, but only if step 1 and 2 does the same effect.

3. Turn it off and unplug it for 30 seconds.. Now plugin the power. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to force a reset back to factory defaults.

Still it sounds like a configuration error or bad network driver if this printer is on the network.
