The motor might have a manual overload. If it does it will probably be a red push button. Just push it to reset it. If that is not the problem then I would check the cord to see if you don't have a broken wire, possible at the plug or where the wire takes a sharp bend during normal operation or storage when you are done using the machine.

Clarke plate sander vs drum for a floor that only needs

drum sander leaves chatter marks you must plate these out. belt sander is the best way to go, however it will take longer to just plate than to drum and plate. for light sanding i would start with a 60 grit on the drum, then 80, then 100. plate with 100 screen till chatter free, then final with 150 screen. this is if you intend to go to raw wood.

Go to Americansanders.com and under the orbital sander click on it and the manual is 38 pages long, the parts explosion is towards the back of the manual but it should show you how to disassemble this tool so you can get to the bolts that you need. Let me know if you need more help

Using a Clarke DU-8R drum sander, I am getting grooves in the floor from one pass to the next, running parallel to the sanding direction. I am sanding right to left as it says. Is there an adjustment to...

If the drum has the bar clamp with the 3 screws make sure the bar is set so the screws are flush when tightened down. If you reverse the bar clamp the screws will stick up a fraction and cause this grooving in your floor.

I have a du-8r clarke floor sander, i need a schurter switch, swiss made, a146f160u4-azm11, 120v, 16 amp. do they still make this part.

I can't find anything on Clarke's website for this tool. But if you have the switch out I would take it to a local repair facility or electrical supply house and have them match it up. There is usually nothing that special about the switches. Let me know if you cant and I will try and dig deeper.

Sander failure when using honda generator

If you are using a 220 volt 4 hp floor sander, which is 95% of all floor sanders. you CANNOT use a generator less than a 25KV, which is about the size of a van. All Floor sanders draw over 80 amps at start up and during floor sanding all sanders run around 25 amps. If your motor is a Capactor style motor you can do detrimental damage to the motor. Many of my customers have done it in the past.
