The motherboard can not be tested but, usually what makes the motherboard fail is the little tape between the power switch board and the motherboard
the answer to hdmi and, blueray is: yes and, yes you can interchange them then go to hp.com to get the software and, drivers

I have some very nice proprietor computer cases, and the motherboards were dead, and the processor speed wasn't much to talk about. So, I don't want to go with the original motherboards. So, How can I find...

So what do you have? That would be far more useful than telling us what you don't have...

A quick test would be to get a standard ATX (or as appropriate) form factor board and offer it up to see if the mounting holes and cut-outs for back panel connectors line up. If they do, you are in business.

As to what to put in, well that's a whole new can of worms...

Hi, there are two possible drivers for this system, one being Conexant HD audio and the other being Realtek HD Audio here is the link for Conexant HD Audio, first of all download and install the Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture(UAA),restat system then Conexant or Realtek.
Here is link for Conexanat: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=228&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=3224049#N167

Here is link for Realtek: http://www.realtek.com/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=24&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

My hp pavilion m7170n keeps shutting off randomly, is this a power supply problem?

You are going to have to test several things when trying to diagnose the problem.

1) It could be *********** Board. Most computer shops will have a test cpu or each particular motherboard cpu style, this allows them to test your CPU and Mother Board.

2) Yes, It could be your power supply. Power supplies do go out randomly, normally a common problem is people forget to upgrade the power supply when they upgrade, say, a video card. Depending on the size of the power consumption of the new hardware the person would need to upgrade the power supply, other wise they end up having the same problem.

3) Have you upgraded your RAM lately? If so then double check to be sure *********** Board can handle it, otherwise it will reset like it is.

Well I hope this helps.

Need replacement LCD Display Screen for my HP Pavilion dv9730us 17" Notebook PC Laptop. Where can I get one for a low price?

If the LCD screen is not physically broken ie a cracked screen then it could have a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp which will give you a black screen. The inverter and CCFL lamp is a lot cheaper to replace than a complete new LCD screen.
Check out LCD Parts WEB site for service, parts and DIY info. Click on this link to their WEB site :-

Adding Memory to HP Pavilion N5160

The motherboard will only recognize 256 module. If you go to crucial.com and run the memory test, it will tell you the maximum memory the motherboard will support. So buyin a higher memory stick is wasting your money since it will not support it.
