Question about Peavey VTB1 1-Channel Amplifier

Peavey TNT 160 has no response from both inputs, only preamp in

Got given a TNT 160, guy said it only needed a fuse, I replaced the fuses and it powers up but only the preamp input produces any sound.

In my experience fuses rarely blow due to age! I suspect that whatever the guy said the problem was it was really a faulty transistors or IC in the power amp board.
You can check transistors with an Ohm meter in circuit to some extent. (the ones with a scale and needle are best for this) Look for a short between the terminals of each power transistor on the heat sink first. If any transistor sends the meter full across (both ways) you have found the fault.

Amp blow fuses immediately when power is switched on

There could be so many things wrong with it, but personally I find the most likely problem is the power supply.

Peavey tnt 115 blowing fuses

your either overloading something cause that's what pops fuses. My guess is that what your plugging in or into has a ground issue. I'm wondering if it does it with nothing plugged in at all. I would say if you have nothing in and it does it, you need to find where the ground issue is. that's my best guess

Very unlikely, sounds like it's faulty. Was this on plugging in or were you using the amp, and if so doing what? What is your supply oltage?

I have a peavey 8.5c power amp channel one led comes as soon as signal is inputed but,no volume out of channel a very weak

One of the preamp IC's may have failed. They used LM3080N and RC4558 IC's- the 4558 you can use any 4558 as they were all high quality lo noise. The LM3080N may still be available from Mouser, i did not check them. NTE may have a replacement, but not likely to be as quiet as the original.

Even with schematic- which they do not have a provision for me to dupload, You would still end up and either buzz test starting from the output transistors and working back OR putting an audio source on the input and using a high impedance old style headphone like they used to use for ham radio (or modern earbuds connected to an impedance matching transformer low impedance winding and the high impedance winding ) you simply attach one lead to ground and then attach a test lead to the other end of the winding and work your way forward until you lose the audio signal.

Outputs of 4558 are pins 1 and 7, and inputs are 2&3 and 5&6 Do not be surprised if one input goes quiet- if both go quiet you are close. The outputs are the more important test point. These are directly in the audio path and most likely for one to have failed.
