SOURCE: inside fan motor - evaporator
Yes if you dont hear the evap fan wprking remove rear panel in freezer let me know what you see. Is coil iced over? Is fan running? Is the motor warm? Attempt to spin the blade gently to see if the motor is bound. You can oil these.

SOURCE: Kenmore Fridge #596
i found the defrost timer for my Kenmore 596.62239200 / freezer on bottom. it was in the top of the refrigerator compartment behind the light bulb console. had to remove the light bulb cover and then there are two visible screws that hold the defrost timer to the light console. the timer is up on top of the console and is not easily seen. ordered parts on www.repairclinic.com.

the defrost should be controlled by a timer every 10 hrs or so,it is usually in the bottom of the fridge by the compressor,it has a small motor that turns the timer, they burn out
