Dvd player cannot be launched?

All of a sudden the dvd player on my Toshiba L300 laptop has stopped working. It keeps saying that it has been launched by another user. I have no idea what this means. I've only had it 4 months and the player was working fine until a couple of days ago.

Thank you for your request.

There are a couple of possible solutions. If the first does not work, try the next, and ultimately you can call customer service for Toshiba or the company you bought the system from.

First I would try to restart the system.

Second uninstall and reinstall software.

Third Check drivers and other software relating to the dvd player, or disc drives.

Forth to call customer service, there could be more complicated software issues or hardware issues at this point.

Hi,
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.
click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

I just bought a brand new Toshiba Satellite P75-A7200. It won't play DVD's and keeps saying wrong area code...I live in Australia, bought the PC in Australia and am trying to play Australian DVD's but

hi, I think this may help. what you need to do first of all is change the default player for DVD's from Toshiba Video Player to Windows Media Player, cant remember off hand how to do that but should be in manual, but try this. go to windows control panel, select 'Default Programs' and click on it, then select 1st option 'Set Your Default Programs' a list of all programs will come up, look for Windows Media Player and click on it, then choose one of the options on the right. The top one sets as default, the bottom one allows you to set file types to open with the program. this should work as it is telling your system to launch that program for DVD's etc, If you cant find your control panel, simply click Start and type it in the little box that appears just above it.
hope this helps

Unable to play back

Shouldn't matter what the OS (operating system) is. What you need to do is to make sure you convert the movie to proper format which would allow you to view on DVD player after burning. Usually you need a seperate software. Your DVD player should say what formats are compatible. Usually listed on unit or in manual. Avi is a great format but when you burned it to DVD your computer probably created a Data Disk. Which would make it unreadable by DVD player. Check to make sure you are able to convert to format that's readable by your player.Good Luck

DVD player stopped working

REstart the system and reinstall the DVD Player program that let the DVD Play.

maybe the DVD disc is required some codecs to play. try another player such as VLC player, or install the DVD player provided in your laptop DVD Rom. You can search and Download VLC player for free just search in google.
