If we open a folder, there is more than one file,we select all of them by hold ctrl key and A.all the files takes blue shade, that means all the files are selected. Now all the icons are selected in my desktop in blue shade without touching any key.what is the problem.

It appears then that this has to do with your laptop keyboard or something because this is not typical behavior. This may even be some sort of virus. I would run a complete scan. Outside of that, I do not know what the cause is - sorry...

is a Windows standard for "Select All" so that is working correctly. When the CTRL key is NOT pressed, a single-click should de-select all but the one you clicked on - does that work? And...is the folder you opened the Desktop folder?

Please see if the same thing occurs when you hold down the CTRL key as you single-click and icon.

Do you mean they are all "selected?" If that's the case, "single-click" on any one of them and the rest will no longer be selected.

If I'm off with the solution, please explain "highlighted" for me.

Probably you have selected wrong desktop theme,

  • simply remove all all screensavers
  • remove desktop wallpaper
  • change theme to windows xp or windows standard
  • additionally readjust the virtual memory settings

Using Windows 7.(Lost Desktop Icon).

Click the mouse "down" onto the "nearby" icon, and then "drag" that icon to move it somewhere a few inches away. The "missing" icon may now become visible.

Or, if you have used "auto-arrange desktop icons", look everywhere on your desktop for the "new" location of the icon.

Hard disk icon disappeared from desktop

To add the hard disk icon back onto your desktop, first click the "Finder" button in the dock. It is the dark and light smily face icon at the end of the dock.

Next, click the "Finder" menu item at the top of the screen and then "Preferences". In the "Finder Preferences" window that opens, click the "General" button. From there you can select what system items appear on your desktop. You can click "Hard disks" to re-add the hard disk icon.
