Question about Harley Davidson 2010 Harley Davidson Flhx Street Glide "envy"1/12

Open Question

I have a 2012 Street Glide with a factory installed cigarette lighter. I was using it to charge my cell phone while on a ride and it stopped working. I checked the fuses in the fuse box and none of them are blown. Is there an in-line fuse somewhere?

Voltage regulator will not allow enough current to the lighter to charge sophisticated electronics. Install a 12v outlet directly to the battery or re wire your lighter to connect the positive directly to the battery.

If you used anything other than a 2amp trickle type charger you may have fried, yes as in completely roasted, Southern deep fat fried, Pok skins, fried a number of components from various relays to your ECM.
Check power on battery under no load. Look for something in the 11.5 volt plus ranges. With voltmeter on hit starter button and see if it drops.
Check power through to relays and beyond, this is a step by step process, there are no short cuts. It takes time and it is a pain in the backside.

You either have a wire that is shorted going to the ECM or the ECM is bad itself. Trace the wires between the fuse and the ECM to make sure that none of the wires are grounding out. If all of the wires all check out ok then more than likely something internally in the ECM has shorted.

Battery will not charge

Do you mean it discharges while riding, or after it sits?

If while riding, then the charging system probably isn't working.

If you mean while sitting, if it's the original battery (2007), the battery probably needs replacing.

You can purchase a specific charging socket extension at most car accessory outlets. It can be wired to the car's battery, or as an extension of another heavy load circuit such as the cigarette lighter and this is a very inexpensive item and is reasonably easy to instal.

My 2007 streetglide continually blows the 5 amp fuse when I run my magellon gps off the cigarette lighter. I have replaced the fuse with a 7.5 amp fuse and the problem continues. I have been told that I...

Most cigarette lighter circuits can handle up to 20 amps of current draw. Go over that and bye bye fuse...The lighter itself will draw 10 amps when it creates a direct short to heat up. As you can see. a 5amp is useless.

I have no power at my cigarette lighter. All other functions work and I use that to power my radio antenna booster. need to find the broken wire (orange)

First check the fuse, which I'm sure you did. Next check the ground. I'll bet you have a bad ground somewhere in that circuit.

You likely have a blown fuse. I have heard using the cigarette lighter for charging your cell phone can blow the fuse - was told to use the charger inside the center console for charging my cell phone.

Cigarette lighters (2) don't work

You replaced the relay or the fuse? Need clarification :)

- do you have a voltometer / ohm-meter / or a test light?
- do you have a factory service manual (not a "haynes manual")
- what happened prior to the cigarette lighters not working (i.e. plugged in my computer / turn on the headlights) ((or - if it just never worked leave blank))

Please and thank you :)
