Re: philips television dead, want turn on.

As you are a electronics engineer please psoceed as follows you have checked fuse & it is ok it clearly means that there is no SHORT CIRCUIT. 1 check power supply output. if it not ok then check components connected to swithing ckt. 2 if it is ok check horizontal section. remamber that it is not a major problem.

JVC TV AV-32870 will not turn on. blinking timer light

Worth taking it in since it is hard to find a new TV for less than $300. I have a 32 inch JVC iart that for about 2 years would turn itself off and the timer light would blink. Only thing that worked would be to disconnect and turn back on. Eventually, the tv "popped" I could smell something that burned out and within 3 weeks tv went "dead" Took it to a tv repair place and replaced power unit for $150. I had similar problem with a 19 inch Philips and that tv has been going strong for 4 years since repair.

Good Luck

Blinking red light standby/timer

It seems to respond to power supply, send it to a nearby technician. The problem might be it fused the picture power supply fuse. make sure the installation is at you presence.

Philips tv demo

Try holding the volume up and channel down buttons on the set at the same time. Give me the model # if that doesn't work.

On some models the reset is unplugging for a minute or two and plugging back up. Otherwise you have a blown fuse where the power goes in. If you decide to replace the fuse do no go over 5 amps. If the replacement fuse blows there is a short in the set and needs a repairman.

Tv wont turn on

I had the same problem and took it apart. Before the repair there was no "click" when I pushed the button, a clue to the problem. The on-off button on the front pushes a weakly made angle piece of plastic inside which had broken. The plastic piece in turn is supposed to push an internal switch which is offset to one side.

I used epoxy (Araldite) to repair the broken plastic angle piece, but it still looks weak to me so I switch the tv off at the wall and leave the on-off button alone (though it does work now).

Opening the case requires some knowledge and care, and can be dangerous. It may void the warranty so be careful or give it to a qualified repair person.

Hope this helps!

Nothing comes on...,when i push the power.

as there is high volage in side tv so please do not open back cover unless you know. As set is dead so problem 1 power supply section see proper output voltage is there. 2if it is ok check horizontal section. 3 as you have said that fuse has not blown means there is not much dangereous in your tv. good luck
