Easiest way, backup your data, and reformat your hard drive.

You may need to do some "housecleaning". You probably have to many running processes. There are many Freeware programs to use to clean up and disable all unnecessary programs. All programs that start with windows will slow down the Laptop. Most are unnecessary and should be Shut down until needed. Two freeware programs to help are , 1, CCLEANER: http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ This will remove the junk, use cleaner and registry, configure, scan, delete. In the TOOLS section , select STARTUP, disable ALL unnecessary Startup programs to speed up starts and running, the more that's running in background the slower your machine will be. Your specs are minimal at best, you need to "lighten the load" on the processor and the memory. Uninstall ALL unnecessary programs, junkware, toolbars, extensions, etc. on your web browsers. 2, MALWAREBYTES: http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/ This freeware programs will remove any malware, and other nasties. In the install, UNCHECK the Trial Pro version, you want the freeware version, run a FULL scan, delete ALL results, reboot. I would suspect you have to many programs running. First, download two freeware programs,1. CCLEANER at http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ This will clean the junk from your machine. In TOOLS section, STARTUP, disable ALL unnessary startup programs. In the UNINSTALL section, remove ALL unnessary programs and Toolbars, they are killers on broswer speed. 2. Download MALWAREBYTES freeware at: http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/. In the install, UNCHECK the TRIAL PRO version, you want the freeware version. Run a FULL SCAN, DELETE ALL RESULTS, Reboot. For Win 7 Tips for speed look at this: http://www.computingunleashed.com/speed-up-windows-7-ultimate-guide-to.html

My pc is very slow what should be done?it is having 1gb ram, dual processor and 180 gb hdd.

do virus scan. Make sure you have only ONE anti virus system on your PC - otherwise it will slow down dramatically
disable startup items.
Go to start->RUN -> type in msconfig press enter
Then go to startup and disable all and test if speed will increase.
If it will get faster - you can enable startups one by one and see which program slowing down your PC

Slow startup slow all together

The first thing I'd try to do is see what programs are running at startup. To do this Click on Start--> Run -->type "msconfig" without the quotes.

Click on the Startup Tab and view all the programs that are running at startup. As for deselecting which programs run at startup you can directly ask me which ones you can disable. For the most part all instant messengers and most program files can be disabled.

DO NOT disable any Windows/system32 files!

Slow speed

Check your Startup files to see whats running behind the scenes. Run "Msconfig" from the start menu, and click on the "Startup" Tab. All the items that are checked are the items that will startup with windows. You can uncheck the ones that you are sure you don't need (the programs that look familiar to you).
