Chk for shut off valve to heater , open if closed. Open hot water faucet and listen for water pump. if pumping givre it time to fill heater tank and start runnuing out offaucet. Air will be purged as pump fills the lines and heater. Shoer and bath need hot faucets open also to purgr air.

Boiler won't ignite for hot water unless heating is on.

If this is in a RV the propane monitoring valve may require more gas flow to turn on than the water heater requires. A central heating system requires substantial gas flow so when the monitoring valve opens to fire the central heating, there is enough gas flow to also fire the water heater.

Have atwood 6 gal water heater for an rv. Heats water on gas mode but no hot water in electric mode? Help please!

Sounds like selector switch is bad. I would start there first. If not the switch, heating element probably burned out.

I'm thinking the heading should be furnace so here goes. Need to test for 12 volt power at sail switch, and high limit switch as well. If you give me the model number may be able to guide you better. If you shut it down/off, and remove 2 screws holding cover on, inside your RV , you should see a model number like SF-- or NT -- on a stamp or label. Let me know if you find it and need more help.

The first question is this
From the outside of your RV is the water heater square or is it longer than it is tall?

If it is square it is a Suburban
If it is longer than it is tall then it is an Atwood
Forest River mostly uses Suburban

How long do you let the unit burn/run before you try the hot water? From a cold start it will take - depending on the outdoor temp. & the gallon size of your water heater, 15 to 30 minutes for the water to get hot.

If you have waited this long then I would suspect the bypass valve is in the wrong position

Hot Water Heater in 1991 Pace Arrow RV is not working

If you look on the outside of the RV, you will find the vent for the water heater behind and access door. There usually is a drain plug and valve located as well. Generally they will be tucked away under the kitchen sink area with internal access as well. You will need to find where the valve that shuts the water off to the unit is and turn it on. Most times the water heater is either electric or propane. But sometimes they are only propane. Once your find the access door, you will know where the water heater is. You can also contact Fleetwood who makes the Pace Arrow to see if they have any information on your unit. Usually your unit info or trim number will be located on a little plaque right by the entrance to the RV. You will need this when you contact them. Hope this helps.

Attwood RV Water heater model GC6AA-10E overloads breaker when

I would remove the heating element from the hot water tank. Take a look at it as it is probably fried from due to turning on the power to the tank when there was no water in the tank. If it looks ok still do a continuity test on it. I believe that is your culprit.
