My onkyo tx-nr5007 wont give me the option for firmware updates. it wont give me a picture on my t.v so i cant adjust anything that way. what can i do? how do i know if my hdmi board is no good?

The DSP HDMI board is not accessible anymore .
ONKYO has this problem for some time now
while upgrading over the Ethernet, the system doesn't recognize the new software.
And the AVR stops responding.
At the moment am working on it .
hope for the best .

The video card to your Onkyo is OK, as it displays the Onkyo Logo. Contact the authorized service center for Onkyo. A firmware update is necessary. With a Corrupted firmware, this kind of display effects can occur. Gopakumar Gopalan Google

Hello, i have a problem with my Onkyo receiver. Every time i put it out, it has lost all his institutions. I don't know why this is happens. Every time i have to install the whole receiver again. Do you...

It will help diagnose problem if you provide the model no. of the Onkyo receiver.

Normally the settings are stored in a flash memory device (EEPROM). It is possible this is failing.

Have you recently updated the firmware of the unit? If you know how to run to reset the receiver then try it and see if holds the settings after that.

Simular Problem

HDMI must be hooked directly to the TV and optical or digital coaxial to the receiver. Your receiver has 1.1, 1.2 or 1.2a HDMI firmware and hardware. There is no fix for this issue w/out a new receiver that has 1.3b firmware. All receivers on the market have this issue, not just Onkyo. HDMI comes directly from HDMI. And there customer support !@#$%^&*()!!! Sorry for the bad news! but that's the fix. Hope this helps.
