The back light is typically an integral part of the LCD display, so you may have to replace the entire display. On some displays, the touchscreen and back light connections are separate from the display and on some displays, these connections are soldered to the LCD display. Trying to take apart the LCD display just to change the back light can result in breaking the LCD display. You are better off just replacing the entire display if you can find it for that model.

Command lcd backlight
The LCD backlighting is LEDS and.they are integrated.. unless you have some good electronics knowledge replacing them will be next to impossible.. the only other way is to replace the entire unit either from the dealer or a savage yard.. good luck

I think the problem is in your dimmer switch. It controls the dash backlights as well as the display on the radio. Is this a factory radio and are you dash backlights bright?

What does the backlight looks like
the back lights are a series of small flourescent light tubes behind the screen. Usually they do not burn out its usually a backlight inverter which has the issue. You can get replacement inverters with free tech support from www.tvrepairworld.com

Assuming you have adjusted the brightness as far as it will go, then the backlight has burned out. Most laptops have a florescent backlight. You must either replace that or replace the screen. Another problem might be that the backlight inverter might be bac.

Laptop stain
The backlight of your laptop starting to produce a black color on the end of flourescent lamp. Thats the sign of burning mercury on the backlight. You need to replace the backlight asap, before it becomes dead. Otherwise you gonna have a black screen if the backlight dead already.

Backlight is off
You either have a bad LCD or bad backlight board. The backlight on your screen is no different than a light bulb. If it burn out it stops working, if these is no power to the backlight your screen will have an image but no backlight to see the image.

You should replace your "backlight" in your lcd, or if you have the money you need to replace your entire lcd. This problem it is because your inverter couldnot turn on your backlight wich it is burn or broken
