Question about Juki DDL-8700 High-speed Single Needle Straight-stitch w/ Table & Motor

Start by tipping your machine back and making sure that the "mushroom" that is in the middle of your oil pan, isn't stuck as it pops up and down when you press your leg on your knee press. Also that your knee press is working freely.
If neither was a problem, you will probably need a mechanic. If you want to try to look behind your tension on the front of your machine, use a soft brush to clean around your tension, being careful not to bend or break off the wire that is attached to the left side of the tension discs.
Do you work on either very fuzzy or plastic type materials? Small pieces of fuzzy fabric or thread can get inside the left end of the machine and slow down the release of the tension. Also, I have noticed that if I sew on too thick of fabric, like 2 layers of upholstery fabric with a self covered large cord in between, I have tension problems. Some of my larger cording feet aggravate the problem, especially if they are not a hinged foot.
