Top tension should be about 4 or 5, you should be able to pull the bobbin thread through with slight resistence

I have a Viking 630. What numbers should the tension dial be on so the top thread does not show on the bottom when the bottom thread is a different color from the top thread.

There is no really correct or wrong answer here. It's trial and error, and experience with your machine. The reason? WAY too many fabrics and variations on threads. The wear in the tensioners and even the needle all make a difference. When in doubt, start with everything set in the middle of the range and test a few runs.

How do you adjust tention on the star 10 brother machine

Not much information available regarding your machine. It appears from the photo that the machine quite possibly has automatic tension, meaning the user is unable to adjust it. There could be an adjustment for the bobbin tension, but one would have to see the bobbin case setup to determine that.

Lower the tension on the discs and double check the routing of the thread.

Serger tension is off and I can't get it adjusted properly. I have a Necchi Lock machine that is 25 years old and it's been a gem. Do you know how to adjust the tension?

Do you still have the instruction manual for the machine? If you do, you get a great big gold star!

Unless this model has auto tension, there should be a tension knob or lever on each thread feed.

Open the tensions (set at zero). No access to the tension controls, raise the presser foot and this will open the tensions, if the controls are okay.

Re-thread the serger and then set the tension controls back to mid-range or lower the presser foot to re-set the auto tension function.

With the presser foot down, stitch a chain of threads and if they do not "knit" as the should - the serger needs to visit a repair shop.

Service for a serger usually begins around $100.

It could be just the timing needs to be adjusted.

If the tension controls need new springs or the controls needs to be replaced, this will add to the repair cost.

Singer Touch & Sew won't loop bobbin thread

I believe you have a broken gear. These are difficult to repair on your own.
