If you have your desktop or laptop Click on start, in the run box typ CMD
A box will appear, At the end of the C:\whatever it says
Type ipconfig /all
IT may scroll by you but use the scroll bar to scroll up and read the lines that you need. You laptop or desktop will need ot be using the same router when you use this test.
Just read the lines and write down the results and transfer that info to the Dish network setup.

10 rca tablet keeps losing connection have to shut down to get it to connect

Try setting it to a static IP address.
open router settings (type your routers ip address in web browser I.e.192.168.1.1)the admin name and password are normally on the router)then lan settings
set the MAC address of tablet as static noting the IP address (192.168.1.4 for example),subnet mask (normally something like 255,255,255,0),etc.( to find your tablets MAC address settings then about)
when you have set the router up, on tablet tap the settings then wifi, modifiy settings tick use static scroll down and enter new ip address ,subnet mask default gateway(your routers in address).
its easy then it looks.

Why Subnet Mask is used with IP address

In networking the subnet mask is used with IP address to get the Network ID. The Network ID is used to identify that the particular IP address belongs to which network. To get the network ID the Subnet Mask is AND ed with the IP address in binary format.

Example:-

IPv4 address contains 4 fields and each field is 8bit

IP Address - 192.168.10.2

Subnet Mask (Default)- 255.255.255.0

Binary

192 -> 11000000

168 -> 10101000

10 -> 00001010

2 -> 00000010

255 -> 11111111

Logical AND (formula)

* 0 AND 0 = 0
* 0 AND 1 = 0
* 1 AND 0 = 0
* 1 AND 1 = 1

192.168.10.2 ------> 11000000.10101000.00001010.00000010

255.255.255.0 ------> 11111111.11111111.11111111.11111111
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
11000000.10101000.00001010.00000000 (AND ing)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hence after AND ing we get the network ID that is 192.168.10.0, so the IP address 192.168.10.2 belongs to this network.

Enjoy networking.

How to figure out your default subnet mask

A subnet mask is a 32-bit binary number, very similar to an IP address. And like an IP address, the subnet mask is usually expressed as a set of four octets written in decimal form, with each octet separated by a period.

The subnet mask is used by routers and switches to determine which part of a computer or other device's IP address is the network identifier, and which part is the host identifier. There are three default subnet masks, one for each of the IP classes A, B, or C. The default subnet masks are:

Class A = 255.0.0.0
Class B = 255.255.0.0
Class C = 255.255.255.0

To determine the default subnet mask for your network, all you need to do is see which class your network falls into. A network's class is assigned based on the first octet (the set of digits before the first period) of the IP address. For example, to find out which class the network 123.22.8.0 belongs to, you would see where "123" fits into the following table:

First Octet: Class:
1-126 = Class A
128-191 = Class B
192-223 = Class C

So for the example above, 123.22.8.0 is a Class A network, which means it would have a default subnet mask of 255.0.0.0.

Most home and office networks will be Class C networks, so your default subnet mask will typically be (you guessed it) 255.255.255.0. Not all networks use the default subnets, but for those that do, figuring it out is easy once you know which class your network fits into.

I'm using two Macintosh Computers. I followed the quick setup wizard, all the right lights are lit. I've reset my broadband modem, I've reset the Dynex Router. Yet I can't make contact...

Richard have you tried setting up static ip addresses on the MACs
If you have other p.c's on network with auto ip assignment then alter the DHCP server lease to 192.168.1.10 to 192.168.1.240
then make ip address static 192.168.1.241 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 default gateway 192.168.1.1 and on the other mac
make ip address static 192.168.1.242 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 default gateway 192.168.1.1

I cannot get my Wii to connect to my 2wire router. We have not been able to connect ever since we switched to ATT. Please help.

I had a similiar problem; check your PC settings and find out your IP address, subnet mask, default gateway and DNS settings and write them down. (from "run", type "cmd", then in the window type "ipconfig /all")
if your IP address is (for example) 192.168.1.1 mask 255.255.255.0 and gateway is 192.168.1.254, go to your Wii settings and change the internet settings to NO DHCP, give the Wii an address of 192.168.1.10 with the same subnet mask, default gateway and DNS server setting as your PC. Remember the FIRST 3 numbers of the IP address must be the same and the last one DIFFERENT.

Configuring leviton router

You can get the router's IP address from the functioning PC. Go to the command prompt by clicking on Start / Run ...and then enter "cmd" in the text area and click "OK". In the black window that pops up...type the command "ipconfig". The computer will list it's IP address, subnet mask and default gateway. The default gateway is the router's IP address.

To enter the Default gateway (router) address in the PC that isn't working...click on Start / Control Panel / Network Connections / Local Area Connection / Properties. In the "Local Area Connection Properties" window....scroll down and click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to highlight it. Now click on the properties button.

In the Internet Protocol Properties Window....click on Use the Following IP address:...now you can enter the IP address for the computer to use, the subnet mask, and the default gateway. The default gateway and subnet mask are the same as the working PC. Hopefully you already know what the IP address for this computer is supposed to be....it must be unique on this section of the network. To function properly, this computer also needs to know what DNS server(s) to use. You can enter the DNS server address at the bottom of this screen.

If you don't know the DNS server addresses, you can look them up on the other machine also. Use the command prompt as described above and enter the command: "ipconfig /all" Look for the DNS server addresses in the command output.

Adding additional computer problem

Yes, the xp machine connects to the net. DHCP is not enabled. The ipconfig/all command brings up the correct static ip address, subnet mask, and default gateway. But it does also say under the ip configuration that ip routing is not enabled. I did have the 2000 machine connected when I first set up the router yesterday, but I booted up my laptop to try to set up a wireless connection, and then I had to reinstall the entire router set-up.
