Question about Acer Extensa 6600 (4400 mAh )
Have you checked to see if the exhaust vents are clean? You might need to blow some compressed air in the vent to clean it out. If they're blocked, your laptop will overheat and cause problems like you're describing.

Its quite obvious the system is overheating.
try clean the air ducts and make sure nothing is obstructing them (esp when u use them on the couch/bed)
time to change the fans too

It seems the Operating system may gone corrupt otherwise it is usually a power supply problem
