Question about Cub Cadet Street Sign- tractor lawn riding mower parts

2 Answers

I have an LT1024 Cub Cadet. It works great for about 30 to 45 min and then if I shut the blades off they will not reengage. I go to the PTO switch, unplug the harness in the back and it works again until I shut the blades off then I have to unplug and replug it back in. If I wait for about 1-2 hours then it works fine for 30-45 min again. It seems like it does it when it is hot maybe? What can I check?

I have the exact same mower and problem. I have found that if you blow air (say from a leaf blower) across the PTO the blades will then reengage. I have been told it is the PTO itself that is the problem, but still troubleshooting the issue myself. The relay is the next thing I am going to replace before the PTO itself.

Check the relay, that is the most common issue with what you have described

SOURCE: Cub cadet Z Force 48 inch zero turn blades won't engage

I hope this will help you...under the side panels on each side of the mower, there are "reverse lockout safety switches", they are supposed to stop the blades when both handles are pulled back. If one or both of the switches are out, the deck will not engage. Also, under the right side panel (when sitting on seat) there should be 3 relay switches, the one closest to the motor controls the PTO., if this is out, the PTO will not engage.

SOURCE: I have a cub cadet #2135. Had it overhauled last

Maybe your fuel is getting too hot and causing it to be vapor locked. Check to see how far the fuel line and the fuel filter are from the engine on the approach to the carb. If you are able move the line away some. You may want to move the fuel filter closer to the carb. so that any vapor bubbles can come out in the upper part of the filter allowing for free flow of all the way to the carb.

If really helpful, please rate.

My RZT 50 turns blades on when levers are pulled back instead of shutting of and shuts off when in forward position ? could it be a switch is bad if yes what switch?

Sounds like someone has been working on the wiring, probably trying to bypass the reverse cut out switches . If you follow your steer control lever down under the plastic console covers there will be a switch, one on each steer lever by where it hinges. I don't think the switch is bad because it would not work at all if it was.It is like a door bell switch, when you pull back on the steer control lever it pushes it in and disconects the circuit to the PTO switch and the blades quit until you push them forwards and lets the curent through again. Also check the push pull PTO switch .Every safety switch on the tractor will meet at that switch and plug into it, . That model cub RZT50 has to have the worst switches ever made, but they are available and cheap on ebay. Plunger Switch 430362 430 362 for Cub Cadet Troy Bilt MTD 700 Series 725... Cub cadet 1045 blades go on and off

,I take it you have an electric PTO clutch.
Cub came out with a child protect back-up blade shut down.
If you have the 3 position key with a red led that lights up when turned on then you have it .
the switch is shorting that is attached to the reverse linkage at the transmission since the system works off of ground this could be the prob.
the only other cause is a bad connection at the pto or a bad ignition switch which is part of the child shutdown.

Have a cub cadet 50 inch cut zero turn, after cutting grass for 30 min or so it acts like wants to die but if I shut the PTO off it catches up but will start to die if I reengage the blades. starts a

When it starts cutting out and you turn off the PTO, how long do you have to wait until it can be turned on again? It sounds as if your PTO is overheating and loading down the engine. Run the mower for about 10 minutes, shut it off, and carefully feel the PTO housing. Resume cutting and repeat after it starts cutting out.

Replacing it is not as simple as changing the spark plug, but does not require an advanced degree.

your PTO is built just like a wound up coil and becomes magnatized it gets real hot and it shorts out when it heats up make sure you have no frayed wires which will creat a large risistance and really heat up

If its an electric PTO then the switch on the dash is bad, Its a lever type ungagement then the little break shoes that rub on the blade spindles are either worn out or mis adjusted. If it started when you changed the blade drive belt its possibly the wrong belt??

PTO knob will no longer operate cutting blade

Under the hood, there is a relay switch that is taped to the fuse. In my experience, the relay has gone bad and need to be replaced.
