Inkjet printers basically shutdown when one or the other cartridges are empty. This is an inherent problem with inkjets, but none the less a problem.Try setting the printer to black and white printing only to attempt to bypass this problem. Depending on your make and model, this may help. Otherwise you may need to purchase the cartridge in order to get it to work. Sorry.

This is a common problem encountered by printer users and is in fact not a bug but considered a feature by manufacturers who build this function into printers to encourage consumers to buy their expensive ink cartridges. To fix this problem I would buy a 3rd party ink cartridge for use when your ink cartridge is empty. This way you can use your scanner when out of ink (be careful printing with 3rd party ink cartridges, many have mangled or destroyed their printers by using non OEM ink).

Hi, The scanning unit is independent from printing unit. You can scan even with empty ink cartridges. At sametime, if you wanna copy documents, you need both scanning and copying units to work. Try reinstalling the Driver from the provided driver CD.

Not certain on that model of Brother but on mine I was able to get it to print by changing the settings in "Print Setup" If you change these so that it can only print in black and whiye, it won't look for the colour cartridge, like mine didn't

Unfortunately, there is no way to print with your printer without replacing
the empty cartridges. Sadly, that's just how Epson printers work.

Simply Open EPSON SCAN Software from your computer and scan from there. It WILL WORK even if the Printer is blocked due to Low Ink Issue.

Just press the Reset button for 5 sec till it displays "1" then u can scan without replacing the ink.

First make sure you are placing the right
color cartridge into the right slot.
Most Printers are touchy about the
installation of ink cartridges. If the
instructions say to press the cartridge
into the slot until you hear a loud click,
that's what they mean. If at first you
don't succeed, remove the cartridge and
reinsert it into the slot again and press
on it hard till it clicks.
Then your printer should work properly.
