Question about Canon EOS 30D Body Only Digital Camera

1 Answer

I have a canon 30d and the lcd on the back just stopped working half way through a shoot. I was shooting on a beach with the camera 1 foot above wet sand (but there has been no contact with water). When I got back home I removed the battery and lens and left it for a few hours. Returning to the camera a couple of hours later it still wont show anything on the lcd and on power up the flash pops up and flickers and it says busy on the top display. This also happens if i toggle between the shooting modes. Any help?

SOURCE: "busy" Error

check your firmware version and update if necessary. Usually you get the "busy" message when your camera is writing to the card and it's possible the card isn't quite right - a format should fix it. Alternatately you might try a different CF card to see if the problem goes away. Good luck!

SOURCE: Error 99 only when flash pops up

We ended up sending the camera in to Canon. $200 unless they find something more wrong. Luckily we have my Nikon D80 still. I will say that Canon replied via e-mail fairly quickly and one paid, said 7-10 business days for the repair.

Most DSLR cameras (like your Canon) don't have a live view - in other words, you can't "see" the image before you capture it. You must use the viewfinder.

SOURCE: Canon 40D LCD Wont come on buSY flashes in view finder

Okay, this is simple. Your camera can take several pictures at one time in a burst. However when you release the shutter button your processor takes a second to actually SAVE the pictures to the card in the camera. One thing than has helped me in my wedding photography business is to buy the fastest speed cards I can find. It significantly reduced my "busy" time.

SOURCE: My Canon EOS 1000D wont take photos, viewfinder flashes busy

Maybe you drop your battery and they have electronic components inside that could be spoiled, if is that the case, try to change the battery, it appeares to me that the ammount of current the battery is sending to the component is very low even thoe it seems to be fully charged that's why the camera is unable to display anything and the "busy" warning is blinking all the time, I hope you find this usefull.

I cant see image on my screen when im ready to shoot , I have to look thru the viewfinder.

This is the way SLR users have been taking pictures for half a century. Only more recent models have a Live View capability.

Canon SD700 - "lens error. restart camera"

This is a known defect in this camera. It has happened twice to me in less than two years. If your warranty is valid then you can send it to Canon and they will fix it in about 6 weeks. However you will end up paying to renew your warranty every year because it will happen to you again. A total waste of money in my opinion. This has been such an awesome camera but after this happening to me again I am going to junk it and buy a Nikon.

Canon EDS 30D Viewfinder Off during Picture Taking Works to Display Picture Taken How do I turn back on?

The EOS 30D does not have "live view". (Most SLR digital cameras made before 2007 do not.) By definition, an SLR (single lens reflex) camera looks through the same lens with the viewfinder as it uses when taking the picture.

So there is no way to see the picture on the LCD before the picture is taken, like you can with compact digital cameras. You compose the picture through the optical viewfinder, then shoot.

It really depends on what kind of photography you want to do.
I own both of those bodies, and the 5D is great for landscapes, portraits, and other artsy stuff.
However, the 3 frames per second doesnt compare to the 5FPS of the 30D, so if you're shooting sports, the 5D will do better.
Also, 5D is better for wide angle shots.

If you do decide on the 30D, again, lens choice really depends on what kind of shooting you plan on doing.

SLR's don't show what your seeing through the view finder on the LCD. That is a function on point and shoot cameras, not on SLR's.
