Open Question

Vizio xvt472sv Mainboard 3647-0282-0150: Relay clicks when plugged in; yellow light on; +5, 12, and 24 volts all present at power supply. +5 and 12 voltages always at mainboard. Checked all 8 regulators (3 different types) on the board. All appear to have proper output. Power on switch has no effect; TV appears dead. What else on this board is suspect? Please help.

SOURCE: vizio VA 26 L HDTV10A black screen after on for 3

There remains only the fluorescent back light tube(s) or the inverter that supplies high voltage for it (them). If you had no warning flickering, I would look for the inverter board.

SOURCE: Vizio VT470M no picture, no sound, no backlight. Power supply board looks good all voltages appear correct.

Im having similar problem and with my limited knowledge of lcd tvs and the voltages ALL being good except the pwr on or sw on voltage from the main board to the power supply which tells it to switch everything on Im guessing that something is going wrong on the main board. In the condition where it freezes it (the power on V) which switches everything on i get varied voltages such as 2.5 or 3 or (the normal 5v) and then when nothing powers up (blank screen) i read 0v on pwr on voltage but all my other voltages are corect (24v to inverter, 12 v to main board, 5v, etc.) Im guessing from researching this is that there is in improper voltage somewhere in the main board circuit. I have been unable to find it so i may order another board and post back.

SOURCE: Relay clicks when applying power. Yellow light

Amber light on means standby voltage is high. IF amber light does not go white when power button is pushed the its one of two things.
A. No power on command from main board. Usually labeled PS-On. Should go high from 3.3v or maybe 5volts. If not present Main is defective.

B. If the ps-on line is going high then your problem is a defective power supply.

Vizio e390vl standby and on status good no picture.

The power supply must provide 12V as well as 5V. Your power supply module may be damaged. did you measure the voltages in circuit or after disconnecting the circuits. When no load is present, the power supply outputs must show 12.5 V and 5.3V. You will need to replace the power supply module if these voltages are not present. The main board may not have been the problem in the first place.

Vizio VW42L FHDTV10A POWER SUPPLY. (stb 5v present but no picture, no sound no relay click. The power supply has all the right voltages at all of the check points. Is the power supply good or not?

From your description the set is TOTALLY dead. Just because all of the voltages appear to be good does not mean they are providing the proper amount of CURRENT. 'Tis like a car battery with a static charge of 13 volts but the moment you connect it to the starter, zilcho!

Because of the "deadness" of your set, I am inclined to think that your issue is with the PS. U have no video, no audio, no backlighting, no relay click, nada. What else could be responsible for such a malaise?

Dead set (no indication lights coming on when I push the power button.

Hi Gwendolyn,

First of all thank you for posting your question here at Fixya.
I'm assuming here that you're TV is a Vizio L32 HDTV.
My initial advice is to ensure that the AC source(outlet) is live. Please plug the unit to a known working outlet, if you are using a surge protector, directly plug the power cord of the TV to the outlet to confirm that the AC source is not the issue here.
If you've confirmed that the AC source is not the problem, then the fault is inside the TV and most likely the power supply. Most of the TV with a dead set symptoms that I've encountered is a power supply issue but of course needs to be confirm.

If your unit is not under warranty period (if so, avail it because the manufacturer will fix it for free, opening the rear cover will void the warranty), open the back cover, check the internal fuse of the power supply board, this is near where the AC power cord's directly connected. Check its continuity using the multimeter/ohmmeter, if you found it open, replaced it with a new same current rating that is printed on its body itself. Sometimes internal fuse fail due to voltage surge/flactuation, aging, etc, replacing with new one resolve the issue, however if the fuse blow again, this is an indication of more serious problem on the power supply board, it needs to replaced the entire board.
If the fuse is intact, you have to measure the output voltage of it through connector J1 (pin 9,10,11). You should be getting 5 Volts. If there's no voltage at these pin, you're power supply board is dead, replaced the entire board. If the 5 volts is present, replaced the main board.
I've provided you a links for the power supply board and mainboard below.

Rating and feedback are highly appreciated!

Hope I helped you.
Good luck and take care!
