Question about Denpa USB-24 Digital Voice Recorder
Have you tried putting an adsl filter directly on the telephone wall jack and then running the telephone cable out of that to the adapter? That should take care of the noise element contained on the phone line. Not sure how that fits it with the 'noise of the surrounding area'...I thought it was a direct connection with the audio cable from the recorder to the telephone adapter, therefore the built-in mike should not be picking up any noise (as I understand it, the built-in mike is automatically bypassed when an external mike is plugged in).
Hope that helps.

Yeah, um connect it to a phone in a room that is normally isolated from traffic. Not an ideal solution but as it is a machine and has only an external mic (it doesn't have an internal mic does it?) this is the only solution really, remove all noise except phone conversations.
