SOURCE: Fan begins to make noise - then fridge stops.

Since this issue is repeating on various models, I point you here to a manual (with images) that explains how to fix this frozen fan / drain pipe. Here is the manual by Avi Remember, manual 24h defrost is the easiest thing to do b4 you take more actions. good luck Avi

LG LSC26905TT refrigerator not freezing. Everything is melting in the freezer and fridge.. Lights are on, but no cold air is coming.

Remove all items from the fridge and keep open the fridge doors for atleast 2 days and that will remove all the frosted ice on the evaporator(which can't be seen) and shall work fine after two days.

Our LG fridge had an issue where the water supply was cut off, so the ice cube maker stopped working as well as the water dispenser in the front. The water valve was replaced, and the ice maker started...

it could be a frozen water tank inside freezer door. if so, door will need to be replaced; as, there was maybe a spot where the foam inside door wasn't sprayed properly. disconnect water line fitting under door behind kick plate; close door and try dispenser. this will verify if it's the door or not.

your evaporator coil in the rear area behind the freezer back panel is frozen over with ice and the coil can no longer deliver cold air due to ice blocking the air flow from the evaporator fan, remove this rear panel, defrost it with a hair dryer, check the defrost heating coil for continuity, they go bad regularly,if not the heater coil under the evaporator coil,it may be the defrost timer in the refrigerator section of the unit that powers the defrost coil that needs replacement

I have an LG LFC21770 refrigerator and have noticed a build up of ice on the back wall of the freezer section. Yesterday, when I opened it to get some ice - the ice was frozen but had obviously melted...

If the freezer fails to defrost you get ice building up at the back of the freezer.
The defrost cycle relies in a thermistor transducer to detect the ice build up and to turn on the defrost cycle. The water usually then drips down to a tray under te fridge and then gets evaporated away.
Hopefully you only have a problem with the thermistor and not the defrost circuitry,
This is hard for a repair man to diagnose as when you call them out to your fridge it will be impossible to diagnose if the freezer is totally packed with ice.
And if you let it defrost totally it will be hard to diagnose as they may not be allowed to use freon to cool the transducer.'
So if you call someone in to check this you need to know if the ice build up will be a problem for them .
Youtube has several videos on this situation .

Frigidaire side by side freezer - LOUD noise...

It sounds like the evaporator fan is hitting ice that is built up on the evaporator coil. When it's making the noise, open the freezer door and see if it stops.
(Most models are wired so that the evaporator fan cuts off when the freezer door is open.)
Check the inside back, lower panel of the freezer for ice built up or frost on it. If there is, you have a defrost problem that is most likley a bad heater. It's located around the coil inside the freezer behind the panel you will be looking at. The defrost problem would explain the freezer not freezing ice cream.

MSD2454GR Side by Side refrigerator- freezer side fine, refrigerator side will not cool below 50 degrees; lots of condensation

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat.

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp ..

Freezer works fine but the fridge won't get cold

It sounds like cold air from the freezer isn't making it to the fridge compartment. This can be cause by a several things. The damper that lets air into the fresh food side is stuck in "closed" position, the temp sensor (t-stat) isn't working properly, the evaporator fan (in the freezer comp above the coils) isn't working to blow air up to the fresh food section. In some situations, the defrost cycle for the freezer section isn't working and the coils have frozen into a block of ice and air can't flow over them properly so you get not cold air to the fresh food section but the freezer still stays cold due to the block of ice.

Freezer/fridge won't get cold enough

Madezmom, you have a defrost issue. If your model starts with 106 you more than likley have a bad defrost bi-metal, I will attach a picture of bad one. This sits on the evaporator in the freezer section behind the panel. You will have to remove the shelves and remove the back panel. Defrost the evaporator completely. The part number for the bi-metal is 2196155. See if yours is bulged like the one in the attached photo. If so, that's your problem..Catriver..post back.
