Question about Dewalt Tools & Hardware - Others

Open Question

Have a d15844 dewalt nailer - it's fairly new and not used in heavy duty projects so far. It fell off a 5 ft ladder into the grass. After that it did not work. Nails fly off nailer randomly and it also makes a loud noise. I noticed a slight bent on nose spring but then it may need to be dissasembled around trigger area. Please help.

SOURCE: Nailer jams with 1-5/8 brads

It sound to me that the 1 5/8 brads are not 18 guage but probably 16 guage and they will not work. Double check them first before going any further. You can usually lay them next to the smaller ones that work and see the size difference, if not let me know and I will dig deeper.

SOURCE: My brad nailer will not shoot any nails. When I

it sounds like the piston/driver might be stuck or the firing valve is malfunctioning. there are 4 screws to remove the top cap and you can see if the driver is damaged. Also before removing check to make sure there is not a nail jammed in the nose assembly. This tool is good for breaking the pin on the piston.

SOURCE: Senco 601 nailer shoots 2 nails each time the trigger is pulled.

the 601 had a design flaw, in the nose, where the nails hit as the are being pushed forward, the peice was made out of a peice of metal that was too soft, it wore down and that is where you get the double nail problem.

Senco offered a trade in, this was years ago, for a limited time and gave us credit towards new guns, which we gladly did

Inlet air preasure

Dewalt guns use between 70 and 120 psi. I use 100 psi on all framing guns when testing, however the nailer will last longer if you use lower pressure (only whats needed to drive nail into work, depending on type of wood) . When too much pressure is used, extra force is absorbed by the lower bumper and nose area of gun.
The address below is dewalt service and has all the info about your nailer. Just enter the model number and look for pdf file. Check your model number for safety recall. Good luck

Dewalt D51850 framing nailer leaks air continuously

You could have broken internal parts but more likely you have broken or worn o-rings inside the nailer. You can go to the Dewalt service site at, http://servicenet.dewalt.com/, search for your model number and get a good breakdown of the nailer and order the parts you need to rebuild it. If you replace any o-rings, replace all of them.
