Easiest thing to do before anything major is to open the properties of your print driver and run the head cleaning/alignment tool to make sure everything is working properly. Right click printer in printers folder and click properties. Tabs across the top and on of them should be maintanence or diagnostics. Under there is cleaning and alignment tools. Also sometimes it is located under your program files directory under hp printer model.

User genuine print cartridge to avoid this types of issues.

You should try to verify if the cartridge is correctly put on the bay. If this not work you can try to clean the metal plates with a sheet of white paper and alcohol.

Just replaced black cartridge in my 2600n color laser. I have smudged about a half inch wide 2/3rds over the right of each page. It only smudges in black. I have recalibrated several times. Printed at...


If this just started after you replaced the toner cartridge, one would have to say that it is a bad toner cartridge.
Print something that smudges. Pull down the front cover and look at the cartridges. Pay attention to the top one(black).
Look at the drum on that cartridge. You should see the toner sitting there. Compare it to the other cartridges which should be clean.

I have just loaded both color and black cartridges into my HP photosmart D5360 and the ! buttong and On/off button are flashing. The message on the printer screen is "Print cartridge(s) missing or not...


Remove your printer from the PC and uninstall the printer software. Now reinstall the printer software and connect the Printer to be detected and installed. Check printer properties to see the ink levels.
Use head cleaning before a test is taken . It is possible that the head is not reacting to the need of the command , can be an issue with ink drying , can also be poor ink cartridge contacts

You may have a defective cartridge. I'd take them back to where you bought them for an exchange.

Changed cartrige, now have smudge lines on paper


please check the cartridge and see if it is the recommended one the printer..
if it is .... remove it ,clean the print mouth, re fix it and try printing...
sometimes refilled cartridges also give the same problem. please check that too.

You have mentioned this is a 2nd hand printer,
you have to service the printer,(fuser unit)
if the problem exists after fuser service check Laser Scanner also,

We have just purchased a photosmart d5360 printer & the photos when printed are red! its brand new so we shouldnt have to change any settings should we?


You could have one or more bad ink cartridges. Run some cleaning operations on the printer and see if all the colors look good when it prints them all out individually. That would help to rule out the ink cartridge/s. If that test reveals good color from each cartridge, then it must be some settings that need changed. I'm not an expert, but I've installed my fair share...
