Vortash is talking trash mate..

There are two controls towards the rear of the PCB, very close together. They set the upper and lower limit of the variable power. take a look on cbtricks.com for more info.

oh, and the inline thing vorTRASH was talking about is actually called a power reducer, just so you dont go and buy the wrong thing from his suggestions.

But I will agree that if you are not technically minded, then ask an engineer to do it. would take less than two minutes to fix and 1min 50 seconds would be openening the case.

    Cheers

Sounds like you need a local electronics engineers help , altering the design of an instrument can cause problems and be costly .
Normally an in line filter can be purchased that will affect your output somewhat but it depends on what amount you want to reduce it by remember , if you alter the swf too much then you will overdrive you outputs again and they will probably burn out .
It sounds like at 45watts this system is too powerful for the area you are in I am thinking it is causing interference thats why you want it reduced , again my suggestion is a good TV I filter or change the unit for a less powerful one . One final suggestion is that you have the output 's reduced to a more susatinable rate by the engineer who repaired the set for you ... hope this is of help Regards Vortash

NO variable power on FM,or SSB, but variable works ok on AM

Look for open resistors near by, if the 2SC1969 shorted it has taken out one or two parts, also check for open foils on the printed circuit, beyond this a circuit diagram is needed.

Have new dx959 doesnt get out very far talking 100yrds or so use rdking 56 mic mic works fine on old radio pc 78 and gets out fine also are 959 radios ok or junk has good reception

The DX959 has an output power setting knob. It's located next to the channel selector and is labeled RF Power. Turned counterclockwise will reduce output power. Turned clockwise will increase output power. Your switch is probably turned all the way counterclockwise resulting in low transmit volume.
Also, make sure the wiring for the RK59 is correct for the Galaxy. Even though it's a 4 pin plug, the pinouts may be different for the Uniden and Galaxy radios. Do a Google search for mic pinouts for your two radios to check.

Non capisco come leggere rf se 1 wat o 45

Parlate inglese? Sto utilizzando un traduttore in linea. Sono spiacente se è una traduzione difettosa. Potete inviarli con la posta elettronica a rollincbmods@yahoo.com se volete. La lettura del watt è su un tester di watt. è collegata fra l'antenna e la radio. la rf è potere di radiofrequenza.

Magnum 257 No Audio Being Transmitted

Hello.I have a similar situation on a Magnum 257 HP operating on SSB (AM and FM works fine). If i Transmit it works fine, but when i release the Mic button (after TX), in the bottom side were the RX level should be, it appear somth like a signal level 3 to 5 (constant and continous), but i can't get any reception at all. Only if i turn the TX power level to MAXand i transmit, then it goes back to reception, but not every time. Somtime after TX i need to push the mic button 2-3 times to make it recive somthing, but this wors only if the power level is over 60-70% an i repeat, only on SSB.Can i get some help with this issue?
