The battery keeps voltage on your bios to keep the date, time and settings... without it the computer will boot up but not as smooth as one with the battery replaced

Battery led blinking and battery not charge up on Toshiba Satellite A70

First check the mains cable to make sure it is working, probably by testing it on another laptop, or using a multi-meter. If good the battery may be faulty, take the laptop to your local pc store and ask them if you could try another battery, if they have one handy. If it works then you will have to invest in new battery.

Toshiba Satellite a70-s256 fan issues

Instead, turn the computer off.
Disconnect the AC power.
Remove the battery.
Purchase a can of compressed-air.
Give your computer a "blow-job", to remove all the dust that has accumulated inside your computer.
The dust has been acting as "insulation", forcing the fans to run faster, and with more noise.

Cooler computer -> quieter computer.

System date keeps going back by one year everytime i restart the machine

It's time to change the CMOS battery in the Motherboard.
It will solve your problem.

On how to find the CMOS battery

you will have to open up the '**** shell' and remove all of the B25 and F6 screws from the bottom, as well as the B16 and B6 screws under the keyboard. To remove the keyboard, you have to pry up the trim piece that holds the power button and remove three screws. Be careful of the wireless wire leads, as you'll be tempted rip them out!

The CMOS battery will be under the right side of the hand rest, next to the mouse. It has two leads and the battery is in a blue 'bag'.

That's it.

Satellite (A75S206) runs well from outlet but never from battery. Was told that mobo can't accept dc. Need new mobo. True?

hello loyd516,

Have you tried a new battery? They are much much cheaper, and a whole lot easier to replace than a motherboard.

Here are replacement batteries that I found searching with Google.

According to Toshiba, there has been a battery recall for your specific model.
If that is the case I would definitely contact Toshiba support about it. Maybe you will get a free battery out of the deal. Who knows.
Here is the link and the list(your model is highlighted)
