Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Every time i put my password into xp it says saving settings and reboots itself. Its was fine until i removed AVG free antivirus and installed Kaspersky which came free when I transfered from my old internet service provider to Royal Mail. It seems to me that some of the O/S files have been removed or changed in some way. I have managed to borrow a copy of XP but it was purchased before service pack 2 and when I boot from it it does not give me an option to repair my install, It just wants to format the hard drive and reinstall but as I have all my baby photo's on the system, am very reluctant to do so. If I do need to put the PC back to factory settings, is there any way i can retrieve this data first.

There is an AVG remover tool. There have been some problems like you described. The remover works in safe mode go to the website http://www.avg.com/us-en/download-tools hopefully you have a second computer or have a friend who will download it for you.
Download the file copy it onto a jump drive run it on the computer with problems reboot and see if that clears it up for you.
Hope that helps... Tom

Hello,

Rhis error due to there is a resident virus or your system infexted by virus already. for the main time try to install other antivirus. you can get it here for free: http://free.avg.com/download-avg-anti-virus-free-edition

And then scan your system. You can remove the sysmantec if you like AVG or you can reinstall the symantec if there is no error in your system. remove either of the two antivirus to avoid conflict in the system.

may this help,

Windows xp virus problem-windows will not boot up

XP Antivirus 2008 is one of the latest counterfeit antispyware that devastates the wolrd wide web. XP Antivirus 2008 usually come up after you installed a video codec that come with Trojan, malware and virus. XP Antivirus 2008 normally generates fake and misleading system popup error messages so end-users will be tricked into purchase XP Antivirus 2008.

This is one of the warnings from the net about this program.

a system restore with disks or a full reinstall may be in your future.... reboot and tap f8 and then boot to safe mode.... does that work ?
