CubCadet ZForce 23 50" - runs, but dies when try to move

I was mowing and it suddenly just died and I couldn't determine why. Now, with blade switch off, as it should be ... it starts and runs fine, but when I try to release brake lever or bring steering handles together, it kills immediately. If I reset the brake and/or separate the handles while the engine is dying, it takes off again, but I can't go anywhere.

What would make my mower try to die w/blades engaged?

There are safty switches install on the seat. If you get up off the seat it will shut shut off. You need to to disengage the blades to get off the machine and leave it running. You may also have an issue with the switch setting. Lift up the seat and look for a switch trigger.

hpoe this helps...

Just received my model 247.290001 mower was mowing when engine dies and will not turn over now

Did it stop suddenly? Or splutter and cough like an engine problem? If suddenly I'd suggest checking the seat switch wire hasn't become disconnected, if this doesn't solve it then check all the other safety switches.

Why does my toro model 74301 keeps dieing

There are many reason a lawn mower dies in gear. Buildup of grass on the underside of the deck, mowing in too deep or thick lawn causing too much load on the blade, or the air filter needs cleaning.

My mower will die everytime i engage the blades to mow

Check to see if one of your deck spindles isn't seized. Disengage the blades and turn each blade to see if its free. Sounds like either a spindle is seized or your electric clutch on the motor has a problem.

I have a craftsman garden tractor. I was mowing last Saturday and my mower died. I was able to jockey the break and hand throttle enought to move the mower back to the shed. Everything seems to check...

Hi,

Check your seat switch. It is a prermissive switch. If the switch believes that the operator is off of the mower, any action that could hurt the operator is "denied". Both the operation of the blades and the movement of the tractor are dependent on the seat switch believing that you are on it, and in control. Pretty neat, huh? Except when you are on it and it doesn't believe you..... Try the switch. Usually they are just loose, but it might also be a loose or corroded wire at the switch.
Best of luck,

LTX1000 42" 18HP Kohler - Blowing fuse after 2-4 min mowing.

sounds as though you are on the right track
but be sure to check the wiring directly from the electric clutch on the front of the motor back to the switch
a wire could be pinched in the frame and shorting out intermittingly
look around and find those wires and move them around and look for chaffing and tightness
and what you could also do is to unhook the clutch at the connection to it at the front of the motor and engage switch and ride around and see if fuse blows and if not you may have an electric clutch issue

Dies when clutch disengaged

It sounds like the seat switch is disconnected or failed. Check it out. If it thinks there is no **** on the seat it will cause your symptoms.
