SOURCE: Mens Relic watch stopped working after battry change

I suggest that your watch has an oxidized contacts and electricity can not reach the movement.
Do as folloes:
Take out the batttery,
Clean (scrape) all battery related contacts till they are shiny (use hardened steel needle for that),
Use the dust blower to get rid off any tiny dust and dirt particles after cleaning,
Refit the battery back.
Now your watch should work again.
If all written above do not help, then there is a problem with your watch and you will need the help of the watchmaker.
Do not forget to rate, please.

SOURCE: sekonda 3850 battery replacement

Hi, its Richard, after battery replacement before replacing watch back, there is a small hole in the movement near the edge if you look down it there is a metal plate at the bottom gently press this with a fine screwdriver, the display will then come on, it is a reset switch, regards Richard.

How do you know if a watch battery is fading. On some watches the second finger moves two seconds at a time but on one of my watches it is just losing time.

If it looses time and it has been like more than 2 or 3 yrs since replacing the battery it could be that the battery is loosing power. loosing time is a symptom of a fading battery power.

Casio Telememo 30 I need to change my battery again. I did this once before and seem to remember having to short the watch using a hole in the movement inside the casing. I can't find a source for that...

There are plenty of watches around where you can find writing Shortcut battery and AC. Some writings explain how many times you have to shortcut and for how long as well. Make sure you read exactly what it says and do exactly what it says. Shortcut is needed to restore all watch settings and to make all functions work properly. Shortcut must be done right after replacing watch battery, before any settings. Please note - if you are not quick enough with battery replacement, all previous data from watch memory will be lost. Usual max time for battery replacement is 3 minutes. So, when you decide to replace battery, do it as fast as you can, just make sure do not damage the watch in a rush. When the new battery is in place and in right position, get an eyeglass or magnifying glass and carefully examine watch movement all way around. You should find brass/silver coloured contact with letters AC next to it or even on it. This is exact point for shortcut. Take fine pointed tweezers and touch with one pointed end battery's + and with another end AC contact and hold for 3 seconds. If writing in the watch says Shortcut twice, then do it twice for 3 seconds. When shortcut is done, your watch is ready for use and you can set the desired time, date, month and so on.Hope this will help for everyone who want's to save few quid on watch repairer charges. There are plenty of watches around where you can find writing Shortcut battery and AC. Mondaine Retro automatic day date are not aligned. Date also skips occasionally

Hello Tom Bott,

The Mondaines I have seen a big, bold,
beautiful watches...
Sorry...!!

If it is INDEED NEW... ("The other week")..

I would take it IMMEDIATELY back & get another.

Day-Date watches can INDEED be damaged by
moving the DAY/DATE inside specific times
around midnight...

Most watches
can handle the ABUSE but some
cannot... (keep in mind it could actually be defective).

The watch will not heal itself... and unless you failed to put the stem/winder all the way home... SOMETHING is tragically WRONG with your watch.

My BEST ADVICE... exchange it (now).

Re: Mondaine A692 alrm watch. how do you set the alarm function?

Go to "www.mondaine.com/after-sales-service-mondaine" where you will see a list of downloads.

Unfortunately they do not seem to correspond to the number that you stated but the description might tell you which one is yours.

Why is date on my mondaine 94145 watch 38

Date setting should be described in your manual but if you do not have it, then you can get another copy by going to their web site "modaine.com".

Select "after sales service" and a list of instructions appear. This list claims to cover all the watches they make but doesn't include the model number you quoted. Could it be that the number was the serial number for the watch?

The manual list is not too long, so it should be possible to down load the most likely looking candidates.

Yes. The service you are looking for is called a hand alignment. This isnt usually very expensive so you might even try your local watch repair shop as opposed to sending it in.

I just bought a Mondaine travel alarm pocket watch. Instructions say the crown has 3 positions. 1> Home normal for a quartz watch. 2> Pull out 1/2 way to set alarm. 3> Pull out all way to set time. My...

It seems like your watch has a little short stem and that's why it has only 2 positions. This does not affect battery in any way, nor the timekeeping.
The only downside of this is that you can accidentaly reset alarm time without knowing it as your watch crown is in permanent 1/2 way position.
If you are happy with that - keep your watch.
