Open Question

Hi my sony handycam model is DCR-DVD403. Currently i have 3 problems 1 - The power switch which is used to switch between recording, play and camera is not working as expected, it goes back to recording position always. 2 - Recently the lcd screen is completely blank not able to perform any camera function like set up, format etc. 3 - While recording the camera automatically stops recording and i have to start recording once again. I am very much interested in servicing on my own, if you have any service guide how to service like which screws to unscrew and how to pull the unit. it will be helpful regards suree

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Place an empty disc in, format the disc, record a little scene. Turn off camcorder. Place the error disc in the camcorder, turn on the camcorder all the way to play/edit. If this doesn't work turn it to record and try to record. Worked for some of my error disc

Sony DCR-dvd403 will not work on battery power anymore. Only on AC power

Maybe you need a new battery: if does it turn on when is plugged only the battery and it will stay on for only a bit or when you try to record it turns off the problem is only of the exhausted battery.

SonyTRV340 Handycam How to Record a TV Program

Yes you can. That procedure can be found on page 89 of your manual.
But I'll run it down for you real quick.
Connect your A/V cable that should have been supplied when you bought the camcorder. (One end has 3 connectors, or ends - 1 yellow, 1 red, and 1 white). The other end has 1 small angled connector that is probably black.
Plug the black one to your camera in the A/V port, (it will be next to the firewire port) and plug the yellow, red, & white into the corresponding A/V out ports on your VCR. - The manual page 89 shows this well.

If you don't have the manual click here.

This will work for you. Thanks for coming to FixYa.
