What model Olympus camera?

If it uses SD cards, SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

Perhaps you (accidentally) switched the card to lock? or pressed the write protect button for some pictures?
Make sure the lock switch on the card is in the up position like on the picture:

When i switch on my digital camera write protect message is displayed on it , my camera is olympus fe-190

If your camera uses a SD memory card then the write protect switch maybe on.
SD and Micro SD memory cards has a smallslide switch on the edge of the card, which write protects data on the memorycard. Slide the switch from the READ position tothe WRITE position, which is furthest away from the contacts.

MY OLYMPUS 710 CAMERA DOESN'T TAKE PICTURES IT DISPLAYS WRITE PROTECTION

Usually this error appears to camera who use a SD card. Your camera use an SD card ? I have the same problem in the past on my nikon coolpix L11 I assume the card is not in the LOCK position when you get the write protection warning You have to open the camera ant clean two contacts on the left side of the card slot. You can check that contact whit an electronic tester for continuity after you clean this contact. When the SD card is in lock position the contact should be discontinued and when the card is in write position, you should have a continuity on the electronic tester.

Error message on olympus camera

Sounds like you will need to format the memory card. This will permanently erase all the data from the card and then you will be able to use it again. To format the card: Press the Menu button - right arrow to Setup- right arrow to format option. You will see format yes or no. Choose Yes and press ok. This will clear the write protect message and the card can be used again.

"Write Protect" on Olympus FE-115

Check the manual to discover how write protect is achieved with your particular camera/card Some card rely on a silver foil stick[Smart Media] other have a switch. Compact flash rely on a control on the camera. So you will have to have a good browse through the manual - do not forget that there is a Full manual in PDF on the software disk.

Multi-Swing

By rotating the display, users can use it to view their subject when taking low-angle, high-angle, and a wide range of other shots. When closed, the multi-swing display also ensures carefree portability by protecting both the lens and the LCD screen. The IR-500 is the first Olympus camera to feature a multi-swing display with 360° rotation capability. It is especially useful in Self Portrait Shooting. The multi-swing display's 360° rotation capability makes it easy to shoot self-portraits as well as other people and scenery. Users can view themselves on the LCD screen while shooting, and use the camera's Self Portrait mode to ensure optimum exposures.
