Could be cracked or misaligned electrodes. Could be improperly gapped electrodes. Make sure transformer is making contact with the buss bars. Make sure transformer is secured down. Make sure your air setting is not to high, or else it will blow out the spark before ignition. Hope this helps

Honeywell RTH2300 says Heat On, but furnace isn't running.

Your tstat is not the problem. I've not yet worked on an oil furnace. I'm way down south. But either way, if your tstat was calling for heat(heat on), and you pushed a reset at the furnace, more than likely that reset is a safety. OK to reset, but now what ever that safety is preventing from happening, has failed and can not be reset until repaired. The reset should be an automatically opening switch upon unsafe operation. And manually closed to "reset" the safety. That safety is connected to something that is not working properly. Hope this helps!

Rheem Highboy Oil Furnace runs, then shuts down. I throw in a lit paper to burn off oil residual from failed start. Hit 'Reset' button and furnace starts up. It may start up by itself for the next 3...

Oil furnaces have certain items that routinely go bad or need adjusted to work properly.Some of the common things are nozzle, then gap and location of the igniter,then last is the fire eye. You can see all of these items by pulling the burner tray out. The nozzle delivers the fuel in two ways more or less, first is spray angle then second is the rate or GPH. Nozzles are to spray an atomized mist this means no heavy droplets of fuel. If you have large drops of oil chances are a new nozzle can help you out, please pay attention to spray angle and GPH. The igniter is next, after time they will wear and you can clean the rods and reset the gap to specified distance, that being said it also needs to be a certain distance from the atomized fuel to ignite properly all very important. Then last is the fire eye it tells the furnace that a flame is established and to deliver fuel or flame out and shuts fuel down. These will build carbon deposits at times so simply clean off the deposit and clean the lens with a soft cloth and windex reposition put the burner tray back in hook up the fuel line and off you go.

I had my oil changed in October after the "oil

Try this procedure and let me know if this does not work;

Turn the ignition switch to the "On" position but do not start the engine.

1. Press the Trip/Reset button until "Setup Menu Hold Reset" is displayed.

2. Then press and hold down the Trip/Reset button for approximately 2 seconds until "Reset For System Check" is displayed then release the Trip/Reset button.

3. Then immediately press and hold down the Trip/Reset button again for approximately 2 more seconds until "OIL 100% RESET IF NEW" is displayed then release the Trip/Reset button.

4. Then immediately press the Trip/Reset button once to display "HOLD RESET IF NEW OIL" then release the Trip/Reset button.

5. Then immediately press and hold the Trip/Reset button again for approximately 2 seconds until "OIL LIFE SET TO 100%" is displayed.

Turn off the ignition switch, and then start the engine to verify that the reset procedure did work, and you might have to repeat the procedure if the Trip/Reset button is not pushed fast enough, or it is not held down long enough, or it is held down too long during the reset procedure, and it may take a few attempts to be successful.

Had blackout and now furnace won't start

The biggest items to check after blackout are the circuit boards and the transformer. Also if the furnace was running when it happened, the unit could trip on limit...BUT if this happened the blower would run nonstop with no activity of heat. If no blower, you will need to start with 120v to furnace and then 24v from transformer.

Take your manual reset a little further...remove the card and battery...press all the buttons...leave the camera alone for at least 20 minutes...insert the card and then the battery...turn it on. See if that works.
