Kenmore Washer will not fill and run consistently.

Sometimes when you pull the knob it will fill and run. But not always-sometimes you pull it and it does nothing. It doesn't matter what water temp you ask for it still won't fill. We had a local repair guy come out but of course it ran perfectly. He thought maybe it was the water temp selector switch. If you let it sit awhile sometimes it works. Also Iv'e noticed that when it does work it seems to fill up too much. It fills almost to the point that it will overflow the tub-I don't remember it doing that before. Maybe this is two problems, or maybe I never noticed how much it filled cuz it always ran perfectly????

Can't make any promises here. There could be several reasons for this issue. But from your description I would suspect that the hot and/or cold water hoses leading into the washer may be pressure locked. In recent years I've notice these hoses have been specially configured with a way to cut off the water flow in an emergency. Sometimes if you relieve the pressure on the hose the in-line cutoff valve will reset and the water can flow again.
Turn off the hot and cold water supply to the washer. Then dissconnect the water hoses from the spigot and reconnect. (relieve any pressure) Take this oppurtunity to inspect those hoses. Usually these flow controlled hoses indicated thier purpose with somekind of label (maybe even direction indication for water flow) Then turn the water back on. Dont open the spigot all the way just turn it on enough to get the water flowing. See if that helps.

Washer sometimes halts after filling. Sometimes opening and closing the lid brings it back to life. Sometimes moving the dial brings it back to life. Sometimes nothing brings it back to life. The problem...

been a servicer for 18 years and had one yesterday that had me in a daze for a bit ,but finally figured it out... it was doing the same thing and if you pulled on the timer knob sometimes it would restart and sometimes you had to move it to the next cycle to get it working...it seemed to always happen on the spin cycle or rinse when the unit was suppose to start the tub operation... i finally determined it had bad contacts in the timer and had to replace it for the customer.... hope this helps you out... wish you luck

My Kenmore frontload washer Model 417 sometimes sticks in the fill cycle and will not advance. It will stay that way for hours just running water. If I advance the knob just a bit it will continue as...

Your water level sensor, or perhaps the selector switch itself, is faulting on you.

Next time it sticks on a medium load, see if you can move it to a light load. If it sticks on a light load, goto medium load. In both cases, if the washer comes back to life (starts to agitate or resumes filling), then your selector switch is out.

If rotating the selector switch doesn't seem to do anything, then your pressure switch / level switch is faulty.

Selector switch and pressure switch are both located in the compartment where the controls are mounted.

I have a kenmore model 110 top loading washing machine that keeps draining and wont fill up but sometimes it does and sometimes it does not. Help!

Your drain hose is too far down into the pipe behind the washer. What's happening is your drain hose is actually siphoning water from th washer the same time its trying to fill up. Pull the drain hose up from the drain pipe and secure it so its doesnt fly out when the washer is draining. Check too see if the problem goes away. If not pull the drain hose out more repeat steps.

The timer runs but dryer does not heat or drum will not turn .

hi friend,
Is your washer getting power? The first things to check if your washer suddenly stops working are your circuit breaker, lid switch, or fuse box. After making sure there is power to the appliance, you can start troubleshooting other problems. To verify there is power at the outlet, try plugging in a small electric appliance such as a hair dryer or radio.
Sometimes the motor will overheat and then requires a cool down period before it will restart.
Is the machine in a pause cycle? Is the lid up? Washers will not spin or agitate if the lid is up. There is a lid switch probe that can sometimes become dislodged. This is generally a little plastic piece that is in the hole under the lid on the washer. This probe activates the lid switch when the lid is put down. Manually advance the timer if the pause is too long.
There are some washer models out there that will not run at all until the water is filled to the level that has been selected. Sometimes the mechanical timer knob on certain washers doesn’t exactly line up with the graphics on the control panel. You can try advancing the timer slightly and pull the knob out again to see if it will start.
hope this helps u

Kenmore washing machine model 110 wash cycle stops

DOES IT DO THIS ON EVERY WASH OR SOMETIMES? IF SOMETIMES, CHECK LID SWITCH( THERE'S A LITTLE HOLE WHEN YOU OPEN THE LID, ON THE LID SHOULD HAVE A LITTLE PLASTIC PIECE THAT GOES IN THAT HOLE. THE SWITCH IS UNDER, INSIDE THAT HOLE. YOU CAN GET A PEN OR KEY TO SEE IF IT'S BROKEN.)

Kenmore front load washer won't start

No power Check to see whether power is getting to the washing machine. Is it plugged in? Has a fuse blown or is a circuit breaker tripped?

Lid switch If the lid switch is defective, your washer can't spin and may not function at all. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washer to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.

Some machines have a special lid-switch fuse near the lid switch, inside the control panel. If this fuse blows, the unit won't fill with water until you replace the fuse.

bad start switch, sometimes the contacts in the start switch will arc and burn causing starting up problems.
