Question about Logitech Z-340 Computer Speakers

Logitech z-3 speaker system faulty wiring, pls help?

Hi i have a Ligitech Z-3 2.1 speaker system which i use for my pc. The problem is that the wiring seems to have developed a short. The bass box crackles when the wire is moved and it is now affecting the left speaker in that it is lower than the right and cuts in and out intermitantly. Whats really annoying is that it has just one main cable which plugs straight into the bass box then splits into two up to the speakers and is fixed and then it has separate power cable. I was wondering if this could be replaced or is it possible to locate a short? I now have to tape the wiring down to stop it moving and crackling. I cant take much more, lol any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Dee

Re: Logitech z-3 speaker system faulty wiring, pls help?

Obviously, the wires/cables have been damaged. Thus, the desired results of the sound system were compromised.Yes, the damage that the wires incurred can be remedied. However, for us to have peace of mind and eliminate the worries of the pc itself getting affected, which is more going to be more problematic, call up the store where you purchased the speaker and inquire from them if they can replace the wires, probably with or without you entailing any additional cost or expense.Logitech is a well known brand and it has a wide array of replacement items that goes with the products they are selling.

Logitech speakers :(

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, I feel uncomfortable cutting the 3 plugs, splicing them together and soldering to just one plug. What I have in mind is to use 3 barrel jacks (use stereo, the image is for a mono), splice them together and connect a single 3.5 mm plug, homemade splitter.

Pls post back result(s). Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

Logitech X-540 connecting to dell dimension 3000 ???

Your problem is you have a 3 channel sound card on your dell and you bought 5 channel speaker system. You can plug the green to green and get 2.1 sound but you will have to by a 5.1 pci sound like in the link below to get the full use of your 5.1 system.

No sound

To my knowledge, a Logitech X-540 does not need a driver to operate. However, it is the sound card in the PC that would need drivers. Further, the sound card should be capable of 5.1 surround sound system and should have three (3) sound output which includes. All of these would have individual jacks to match the different plugs of the X-540 (green, black and orange plugs). The X-540 in turn would output the 3 inputs to front pair, rear pair, center and sub woofer. The green goes to the front L/R, the black to the rear L/R and the orange to the center/sub.

Perhaps you can post back with the brand/model of your PC , and your soundcard or motherboard. Knowing your OS would also be helpful.

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back as requested, how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Give them a try.
