DELL E6420 beeping intermittently

Hello there, I am the computer technician that will be assisting you today. My name is Norman-Wynne Damstra.

Welcome to Fixya, Ronnie Bradl.

Intermittent beeping donotes that the Notebook computer is overheating. The beep is a warning that the Processor has reached the set tempreature alarm. Usually set to 65degrees Cen.

Clean the vents of the notebook with a vaccum cleaner and paintbrush. Be sure to Remove the power and battery from the notebook. Get out as much dust as possible. In addition you could purchase a Notebook cooler.

Notebook coolers ensure that the notebook receives sufficient airflow, some coolers even have fans installed for greater performance.

When using your notebook on a table surface, raise the rear of the notebook off the table to allow for additional airflow. Be sure not to obstruct the vents. A pen or pencil may do the trick.

If the problem persists, you may need to get your notebook serviced/cleaned by a laptop computer technician.

Take care!
Norman-Wynne Damstra

X205-SLI1 17" Notebook PC PC Notebook 3 beep

Memory problem:

Sometimes when the computer is moved or over time a memory stick can become loose causing the computer to be unable to read the memory or get errors as it's reading it. Try fixing this issue by opening the computer removing each of the memory sticks you have in the computer and then placing them back into the computer.

If you have more than one stick of memory try removing all but one stick of memory and boot the computer. If this does not resolve the issue try removing that stick of memory and try one of the other sticks of memory.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Thanks, Joe

HP G60-120US 15.6" Widescreen Laptop PC Notebook: when trying to turn the computer on, the 3 lights ...

Due to regular use of the notebook, some static charges tend to stay in the computer, and sometimes results in not allowing the computer to function properly.

Please follow the power drain procedure to confirm the same:

1. Disconnect the AC Adapter.
2. Remove the Battery.
3. Hold the Power button down for 30seconds to 1 minute.
4. Put the Battery in.
5. Reconnect the AC adapter.
6. Turn on the Notebook power.
7. Restart the Notebook.

If the Notebook boots up you may fix the battery back. Try restarting the computer only with the AC power, without the battery & vice-versa. If the issue still persists then I request you to reset the memory modules, as sometimes the memory module connection get loose.

Fn key

Try installing the "Sony Shared Library" and the "Sony Notebook Control Device Drive".

First install the Sony Shared Library, restart the Computer and then install the "Sony Notebook Control Device Driver" (restart the Computer again).

NOTE: Sony Shared Library is the system component which makes the download and installation of Drivers and Applications compatible with the Computer. While "Sony Notebook Control Device Drive" is utility which will enable the Function keys in the Computer.

Check this Link to download these Utilities.

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=PCGFRV27

The Sony Shared Library will be listed under "System Components - 1 file(s)" and Sony Notebook Control Device Driver will be under "Notebook Control and Utilities - 1 file(s)".

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No worries about taking the Backup of data before reinstalling the Operating System in your Notebook.
I recommend you to remove the Hard Drive of the Notebook and connect it to the USB Port of any other computer using some cables that will be available in most of the computer part stores and copy the required files in the computer to which the hard drive is connected.
You can find the required instructions to remove the Hard Drive of your Notebook from the Manual which is available in the link below :
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00737799.pdf

You can find the required instructions to remove the Hard Drive of your Notebook starting from page number 100 of 233 in the Manual.
Find some cables which can be used to connect the Hard Drive of the Notebook to another computer by clicking HERE
Once the required data is saved, reinsert the Hard Drive back in the Notebook and perform a full recovery by following the instructions listed below using the Recovery Partition  with Vista :
Restart or Start the Notebook and start tapping the F11 key immideatly after the Notebook restarts.
This will take you to the Recovery Manager window.
In this, click on the Advanced button.
In this, you will get the following options :
a) Computer Checkup
b) Microsoft system restore
c) File backup wizard
d) System recovery

Click on System Recovery.
In the window that opens, you will get the options...
Do you want to back up your files first (reccomended)
or
Recover without Backing up.
You can take a backup of the data in the Hard Drive if you have any External storage devices like External Hard Drives connected to the Notebook.
Select the required option to proceed with the Recovery.
The Operating system in the Notebook will be reinstalled along with all the Preinstaled Applications and Drivers to factory default settings.
Hope this helps....
