Computer doesn't recognize when a disk is in the drive.

My driver is corrupted and I can't find a new one to download

Download cd driver for a gateway nv54 laptop


Your operating system shouldn't need a new driver for that. CD drives are recognized configured automatically. You can try cleaning the laser lens on the CD Drive with a CD/DVD laser lens cleaning kit. If that doesn't work then you'll need to replace the drive.

Drive doesn't turn on in external enclosure help!


check all leads that are connecting to and from the hard drive and its enclosure make sure they have secure dust free connections or it might be a driver issue

click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager scroll through all of your devices

if you see a yellow question or exclamation mark ? ! or a red X you will need to update the drivers for this device right click select update driver/reinstall driver


if you can see your usb device but its not working scroll to Ports(Com&Ltd) right click to update driver

if you computer came with a motherboard disk the drivers could be on it

or you might have to download them


Check the Drive Partition in Disk Management


Even though the drive may not be visible on the Desktop or in My Computer check to see if the drive is recognized in Disk Management


Right click on My Computer and select Manage from the menu From the Computer Management window select Disk Management from the menu on the left


In Disk Management check to see if the drive is visible

If the drive is found look at the partition for the drive

New drives will be labelled as FAT32 and have a drive letter assigned


If the drive does not display as Healthy or shows the file format as RAW then the partition has become corrupt

Getting message telling me operating system not found


This is usually due to corrupted files on your hard drive or a problem with the cables connecting your hard drive to your computer. Try obtaining a software disc on your operating system and booting from it. This will give you repair options or an option to reinstall. There might also be a button you can press during the BIOS screen that will help repair or reinstall your OS. If this doesn't work, it is a problem inside your computer with the hardware.

My computer is not recognizing the coby MP815-8GB and saying that it is corrupt. Please suggest me how to fix this problem?


On the MP3 player itself, go to Setup > System > put the USB mode to MSC.

Reconnect the MP3 player to your computer, it should appear as a 'Removable Disk' drive under 'My Computer'.

If that doesn't resolve and you still get the 'USB Device is corrupt', try replacing the USB cable.

if your computer came with a motherboard disc the drivers could be on it

just replace the cable of the hard disk, when you plugged the external disk drive you got that windows could recognize the USB device change the cable everything should work fine again, sometimes the wires inside the cable will be damaged due to bending or stretching or placing heavy equipment upon the cable,
check the USB leads that attach to the motherboard usually red-white-green-black make sure they are securely seated and have no dust build up on them dust will cause static and a lot of unforeseen problems

Disk drive failure on Acer Aspire 5715Z laptop, corrupted driver.


Assuming this is an original CD/DVD drive, go to your manufactures web site, choose their support option, at this point most sites ask for or allow you to enter your "service tag number" or "model number", these should be on the back or bottom of your computer. Once you've entered this information you should get to download drivers for your computer (assuming it's not to old). Download the original driver or recommended update for your CD/DVD drive and reinstall it. You will most likely have to unzip or unarchive the file before you can use it, make sure you write down the location where it's decompressed (unzipped/unarchived) to.
You might have to go into device manager and delete the drive in order to get windows to reinstall the driver. After you've deleted the drive reboot your computer, it should find new hardware and try to install the driver. At this point select "have disk" and enter the location of the downloaded driver. If window doesn't allow you to sellect where to load the driver from cancel the install and you'll have to use "Add Hardware" after the computer has fully rebooted, this is found in the "Control Panel". Using "Add Hardware" you will again have to choose "Have Disk" and tell windows where the new driver is. After Windows has reinstalled the driver your drive should be working.
After all this if your drive still isn't working you most likely either have some corrupt system files (Windows) or possibly some bad hardware. At this point if I was working on this machine I would try a different drive or if that failed I would consider reinstalling Windows. If all this failed I would check for hardware issues on the Motherboard.

My computer stopped recognizing my wireless keyboard & mouse. Says it's missing a driver or that the device is malfunctioning. Don't think it's a battery prob. Do I need a new driver?...


Uninstall the Keyboard driver.
Unplug the Logitech keyboard.
Restart the computer.
Plug the Logitech keyboard back into the computer.
Windows should recognise the keyboard and/or the mouse.
Place Logitech setup disk in drive.
Reload the drivers...

The drivers sometimes corrupt themselves..
You might download the latest drivers for your keyboard/mouse.

Cruzier 4.0 pendrive is not recognized by my computer


the home computer has a small chip onits mother board called disk controller. its this controller which recognises it.so the software driver is corrupt and needs reinstallation or the hard ware controller is faulty.

Hard drive wont mount


From the information you have supplied I would suspect either the drive data has become corrupted, a hardware problem has occurred or perhaps a problem with the LaCie software drivers installed on the computer. Be careful throughout this process, if you are prompted to format the drive you definitely don?t want to do that. I would first try a known good data cable in place of the one you?re currently using. If that doesn?t change anything I would try plugging another peripheral into the data port of the computer to make sure its working. If all that fails the next step to isolate what the problem is would be to try to connect it to another computer if you have that option. You didn?t mention if this was Windows or Mac but to minimize potential problems I would stay with the same operating system and version. When you plug the drive in the other computer it should recognize the new hardware and install the drivers. If all goes well at some point you should be able to open the drive and see your data. If that?s the case then there is a problem with the other computer, probably software drivers. If you get the same result on the other computer that would probably indicate the data on the drive has been corrupted in some fashion. What you do after that will depend on how much the lost data is worth to you and how much you are willing to spend to recover it. Let me know what you turn up, more info such as your operating system will help as well.
