Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Logitech Model 200--when I press "shift" to do the first word in a sentence in caps, nothing happens. I need to let up on the shift key & then try again (sometimes 2 or 3 times) & then it works. It also works OK if I use "caps lock" to print all caps. I've tried other keyboards with the same result.

Tablet onscreen keyboard keeps reversing capslock.

Hi Melissa

When does this happen? Hitting Return/Enter/or the

key will generally throw this up. It is also noticeable on spreadsheets which jump to the next specified cell and automatically create a leading upper case character in the cell just used. These are operating system or program settings.

Try noting when this happens and then re-create it to be sure. Log the sequence to see if there are any keys which are involved (also the length of time or even just tapping a key or spot on the tablet surface can have a totally different meaning)

Hope this helps....

…that by pressing any key on the top row of the keyboard (with the exception of Backspace) from the homescreen will bring up the Dialer?
…that by pressing the Shift key twice, this will allow you to type in CAPS LOCK but you can’t do this at the beginning of a sentence?
…that by pressing the Function key twice, this will allow you to type in SYM LOCK.
…that by holding the Sym key and pressing any vowel key or the ‘C’ or ‘N’ key, you will get accents above or below the letter? Pressing the letter key multiple times while holding the Sym key will cycle through the different accents (only vowels have multiple accents however).
…that the scroll key in the middle of the D-Pad functions like an OK/Options button?

Sounds like the shift key isn't entering. Try both shift keys and see if one will turn the light off. If so tou need a keyboard rebuild. It may be cheaper to replace it.

Caps lock

There isn't a "code" key, you just press the Shift key.  Unless you have a faulty machine, this is what removes the Caps Lock.

Can u use all caps when texting with this phone

yes. depending on where u are in the sentence u will either press the shift/star button about 1 or 2 times. u should be able to see when it changes somewhere near the text input box. it should go from (1)Abc to (2)ABC (if you are at the beginning of a sentence press the shift key once) (3)abc

Problem with sony vaio keyboard

Sounds like you've got something stuck under your shift key. Carefully clean out under the keys, try a paintbrush and a hoover (on low suction if possible).

Be careful not to knock any of the keys off. They're held on by small clips which pop out or break easily.

Backspace doesnt work

in all likelihood your shift key is stuck. try pressing and releasing both shift keys in an attempt to "free" them. Also, check to ensure that "sticky keys" is not enabled on your computer(pressing and holding the shift key for about 10 seconds should pop up a window if it is. if the window appears, just make sure that the key is not "stuck" by windows).

Solution: mechanical agitation for your shift keys to attempt to free them, and a good thorough cleaning for all of your keyboard with canned air and/or a lint free cloth damp with dilluted isoprophyl alchohol to prevent this from happening in the future with these or other keys. Alternately, replace your keyboard.
