Question about Casio Exilim EX-S600 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Blurry pictures I have had this camera for a couple years and have taken thousands of pictures with it. I have been very happy until recently most of the pictures are blurry and look like the camera is not focusing properly. I am wondering if it is possible (if not common) for grit to get in the lens mechanism restricting the lens from moving to the fully extended position. I am considering a professional cleaning but don't know the cost/benefit when weighed against just buying a new camera. Any ideas?

Re: Blurry pictures

First try resetting camera to factory defaults.
Press menu
go to setup
go up to reset
press right arrow, highlight reset again
press set.

If that doesn't work then make sure you are pressing shutter half way down and allowing time to focus.

Still not working? Then you will have to send into repairs.

Hi,your pictures should not be blurry if its a new camera there must be a fault and if its still under warranty i would send it back to be repaired or replaced.

You did not say which lens or lenses you are using, but most auto-focus lenses have a switch for selecting manual or auto-focus. First, check your camera's menu settings to make sure auto-focus is enabled and then your lens to make sure you did not accidently leave it in the manual focus position? If it is in the auto-focus position and still not taking sharp pictures, switch it to manual and see if you can get it to focus correctly. It is also possible that your auto-focus alignment is out because your camera was bumped, jolted or dropped. If realignment is necessary, you can send the camera and lens to Nikon for repair or find a knowledgeable camera repairman.

I own cannon G9. I fail to get good sharp open outdoor pictures at night especially in place not well lighted. Do I all the time have to take pictures Manually to get sharp pictures as we do with focus...

If you have tried using the auto setting and it is still doing the blurry pictures it sounds like a problem with your camera not the settings themselves.
This blog suggests a couple of the reasons might be:
"When your image appears distorted and with altered colors, in most of the cases there are two possible reasons:
- The internal shutter gets stuck , does not open completely or
The image sensor is damaged.... "

I have had this camera for a couple of years. Just recently the pictures are blurry with red haze. I have reset settings but still no good. Any ideas?

The sensor could be damaged, that is the red haze. You probably dropped it a couple of times and the inner optics are missaligned and/or damaged. The only thing you could do is get professional help from a local electronist, or contact your local Casio dealer for help.

Sony Cyber-shot Digicams - Picture Quality !?!?!?

I'm assuming you purchased a Sony as replacement. If that's the case, take it back and ask for a new one or have it checked out. Something sounds horribly wrong to me. If by chance you got one of those Chinese/Taiwanese cameras. Give it away and go back to the P72. Of course, a few hours reading the manual and playing with the camera may solve your problems. Don't try to get fancy first off. Stick with Auto modes until you get a feel for what you're doing. If you are using Auto the go back to the first sentence :-) BMW
