Then reinstall your sound driver.

Make sure you uninstall any drivers marked with a yellow ! or ? in the device manager listed under sound devices or other devices first.
you can get there by clicking on CONTROL PANEL-DOUBLE CLICK SYSTEM- SELECT THE "HARDWARE" TABat the top-THEN CLICK ON DEVICE MANAGER. DOWNLOAD
download the audio or sound driver to your desktop (so you can find it) double click on the desktop icon to start the install, restart the computer..

You have to install the Sound Driver form your Motherboard's Driver C.D.

Now, you have cleared that it's not a software problem (I assume that only one speaker works in all applications/games) , so it's mechanical. Either the speaker is unplugged, the cable is damaged or in worst case the speaker died.
