Take off the cover on the inside door of the lock. Grip it on the sides and pull up or twist. Press the Program button (on the left of the power board) once. Then type in desired code (4-8 digits) on the Touchpad followed by pressing the Lock button. If you hear a 2-second beep, the code is properly stored. If you don't hear the beep, the encoding period timed out. Then you need to repeat the sequence from pressing the Program button but do it faster. To store a second code, press the Program button twice and then type in the desired code followed by the Lock button. (Any earlier code will be lost during these steps.) Then replace the cover over the power board.

Hi... You have too be sure that the deadbolt is free when it go inside the deadbolt hole... however this system is very low power and the (over torque clutch) will sleep if the deadbolt it's not completely free.
Also if you try to open the door before you unlock it, you may block the the deadbolt inside the deadbolt hole. Take care too unlock the door before open-it...

I assume that you get the same results whether you operate the lock with the door open or the door closed. That is, that you've already ruled out a bind between the closed door and the door jamb.
I'd recommend changing the battery first of all. At this time of year, cold weather can have a negative effect on your battery power.
If you've already changed the battery and are still having the problem, you should pursue having the lock covered under warranty. Weiser has a lifetime warranty covering the mechanical operation (and finish) of their locks. Before they cover it under warranty, they are going to ask you the same questions about battery and binding that I've already mentioned.

I have installed your Powerbolt, but when I push the Lock Button, it unlocks? What should I do?
First remove the cover on the inside of the Powerbolt unit. On the right hand side under the batteries, you will notice that is says "Door Direction Jumper". If the cap is mounted on Prongs 1 & 2, carefully remove it and move it over so that it mounts Prongs 2 & 3. A is right handed, B is left handed.
