I found the wheel & worm gear from your picture, but cannot find the link with the rivet, if you mean the one on the end you can see by the cycle arm on top, mine is fine, I tore the whole machine apart looking for that piece, but there is no part on the other end of the solenoid actuator arm. A couple of pieces of white fell out, but no clue to what that was, or where to find the solenoid plunger which may be bad, as there is a humming sound when fw/rv is pressed. Model 850 w/auto focus. My 760H model is doing the same thing, found the broken plastic auto/focus gears, but cannot find the link with rivet or the solenoid plunger. RMo8235376@aol.com

The most common causefor the failure of the slide tray to advance or reverse is the breakageof this small Link (part # 217769). It fits on the end of the solenoid actuator arm and is held in place by a Rivet (part # 159943). Thereplacement of this part does not take a rocket scientist, however, amoderate mechnical aptitude skill is required.
This Set contains 1 Link and 1 Rivet. If your projector Does NOT have a focus motor in it, then this is the kit for you. If your projector does have a focus motor, please order "KODAK-KIT" From: https://www.micro-tools.com/store/item_detail.aspx?ItemCode=LINK

Kodak carousel makes a buzzing sound and will not advance

Your problem is most likely related to cycle contact adjustment. See the attached illustration for the parts involved and the SPECIFIC POSITION of the contact parts:

860 slide projector does not move carosil forward or backward and does not respond to selecting slides, but manual on projector will actuate slides but will not move carosel forward or backward. thanks

there is a small rubber link inside the projector that controls the advance this part fails in time and would cause this problem. the part is not hard to recreate but is difficult to replace.

I bought a used Elmo TRV-35H 35mm projector. The camera works fine, but the tray only moves in reverse when I press the forward or reverse button. And after moving through a few slides it then moves...

Remember, mains voltages exist within the projector and thus the unit MUST be disconnected from the supply line whilst carrying out any servicing.

The reported fault sounds like sluggish operation of the advance/reverse mechanism. Lubricants used in the past tend to age and dry out so that the mechanism doesn't function correctly. IF YOU ARE CONFIDENT TO DO SO, remove the top of the unit and locate the slide mechanism. Carefully clean with cotton buds dipped in pure electronic cleaner and then re lubricate, using an oil dripper with the finest industrial sewing machine oil - emphasis is on a 'drip' of oil on the moving pivot points. Put the top back on and try again.

Problems with remote controllers are suually associated with tarnished contacts either in the hand unit or the projector. Once again, the contacts can be carefully cleaned and all should be well once more.

If you are using Kodak Carousel magazines, make sure you are using the correct magazine for your slides - cardboard or glass mounts. Don't mix slides in a magazine, as this can also cause problems.

The reverse forward feature doesn't work

To advance the slides forward just tap the advance button. To revers it hold the advance button down. If that doesn't do it it will need service.

2 days ago my Kodak Carousel 760H projector started going backward or forward at will, inspite of which button was pushed. Now it will not go forward or backward with either the handheld or the side...

This is not an easy repair. It would probably be more cost-effective (if you will NEVER use the projector again) to rent one for the remainder of your project.

The problem you are describing is most likely a broken "link". The "link" connects the cycle solenoid to the slide change mechanism. Over time, this plastic "link" gets hard & brittle, and cracks, giving the failure you describe. It is a significant tear-down of the projector by a trained technician.

MODEL 760h WILL NO LONGER ADVANCE SLIDES

The KODAK Carousel 760H was manufactured approximately between 1971 & 1981.
The problem you are describing is most likely a broken cycle solenoid "link". This "link" connects the cycle solenoid and the slide change mechanism. Repair parts are still available, but this is a repair best left to a factory-trained technician. Contact an Authorized Repair Dealer.

Tray will not advance

The problem you describe is most likely a broken spring on the lever that moves the tray forward or reverse. The repair requires dis-assembly of the projector and the slide change mechanism and adjustment after re-assembly. I recommend you contact a factory trained repair dealer to make the repair.

How to remove carosel. How to remove jammed slide.

depending on the model (which would be helpful here), there is a button or lever near the slide opening into the projector to release the tray. but if the slide is stuck halfway, remove the top loading ring on the tray and pull the slide out through the top first.

Everything works except for ther forward and backward rotation mechanism. When these buttons are pressed there is a buzzing sound perhap indication a motor problem?

This is a very common problem with these old Kodak projectors and is caused by a small part called the solenoid link that can be purchased separately or as part of this kit: https://www.micro-tools.com/store/item_detail.aspx?ItemCode=KODAK-KIT

There is also a guy on eBay, "atomk", who sells kits with very clear instructions on how to repair this problem yourself. Search for "Kodak Carousel Projector ADVANCE Repair Kit".

Good luck!

Kodak Carousel 760H wont advance or reverse

You have jammed the slide change mechanism. Turn the projector off. Remove the tray using the emergency release slot in the center hub of the projector. Turn the projector on and cycle it a few times in reverse, then in forward. That usually clears a mechanism jam.
