Just tried to start in safe mode once I chose safe mode next screen is one that asks me to pick which operating system to start - I only have one choice WindowsXP should I proceed?

  • kbollman Apr 24, 2009

Yes I did try leaving password blank - no luck

  • kbollman Apr 24, 2009

Did safe boot - at windows login no aditional account came up in options. Does that mean there is no Admin option?

First, verify that Capslock is off. Second, is there another account on the machine that you can use to login? If it has Administrator access, then you can reset the password on your other account. Third, did you recently install any software?

You say that you ran some "recall check auto software" that you downloaded from the internet just prior to having this problem. You may have downloaded malware.

I suggest you obtain a recent Anti-Virus package and scan your system as soon as you figure out how to login.

As for resetting your password, you could try this website's advice:

Boot the PC in "Safe Mode" When the Login screen Appears, an Extra Account would Appear named, "Administrator", open that account & change your account's password..
To boot in safe-mode: when the PC is booting, press F8 repeatedly until Advance Boot menu Appears, there, select "Safe Mode" option to continue with the above mentioned Step....

Just type the name as ADMINISTRATOR instead of your name in the window. You will be able to login as Admin.

Unfortunately, this is a security problem. I would advise you to take it to a competent Toshiba Tech and with proof of ownership get him to remove the password for you.

Reset Windows Password is a Windows password reset boot CD that enables you to easily reset lost administrator or user passwords for Windows 7, XP, Vista, NT, 2000, 2003 and 2008. It will come in handy when you are unable to log into Windows due to a forgotten or unknown passwords.

Lost installer/set up driver linksys model wrk54G

You don't need the disk. You should be able to log-in to the web interface of the router at this URL: http://192.168.0.1/

If you don't remember the password, you'll have to reset the router to factory defaults and then log-in with password "admin".

Windows cannot recognize my password.

In case you have problem with your pass log in as administrator (the default pass is blank) and change your account's pass to a proper one. I can't understand what you mean by AR. Could you send me a print screen of your log in screen with the AR? (hit prt sc in log in screen > log in in any account > open Word or any image editor > paste the print screen from the clipboard) My e-mail is steliosl@yahoo.com.

I type in my password and my computer tells me that i cant log in

I have had this happen, sometimes things get screwy and it just won't recognize your correct password. You need to restart your computer from the original disk. Put the disk in, shut down, restart by holding down the C key. At the top of the screen there will be an installer menu item, click it and then click Reset Password. Then restart your computer and you should be good to go.
