Be sure you don't have the SD card loked (look at the tab on the SD card itself). You may be seeing CHA or something similar in the viewfiner too.

Win 7 driver nikon d80

Do you really need a driver?

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

I unplugged my Nikon D80 from the computer without clicking the safe to eject drive button and now it seems to be stuck in PC mode!

Try resetting the camera by removing the battery for 20 mins, then replace the battery and go to the Menu setting and set the Date and time.

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

D80 picture project free download

PictureProject was retired quite some time ago, replaced by Nikon Transfer and Nikon ViewNX. Nikon Transfer handles the importing of pictures from a camera or memory card, while ViewNX handles the organizing and cataloging. You can download the current versions of all (free) Nikon software from

My Nikon D80 shows an ERR, what should I do? FYI...I tried turning the camra on, removing the battery and pressing the shutter button for 30 seconds. That didn't work.

It's possible that you need to format the memory card. Formatting is found in the camera set up menu scroll down to "Format Memory Card" and follow on screen instructions.
Formatting should be done after each time you download pictures to your computer. Not delete, as delete does leave some data behind and eventually clogs the memory card so new data can not be placed on it. Another possibility is that the card somehow has become locked I'll include a diagram. Also a new card needs to be formatted to the cameratri3mast_228.jpg it is going to be used in.

My Nikon d80 shows the msg as card is locked, how ever i tried to solve the problem by sliding it to write position. Can someone can help me rite now?

Here is a diagram to show the correct position of the switch.

Good big picture and it doesn't matter that it has Canon written on the SD card in the picture the SD card is interchangeable between the two makes.

Now one other thing that may also be the problem is that the SD card needs to be formatted to the camera. Formatting should be done on new memory cards and after you have downloaded pictures to the computer. That's format not delete, delete leaves a mess on the card Formatting cleans the card and provides proper communications between the camera and the memory card

Nikon D80 no picture number in LED & menu not working

Format the SD cards with the camera. You might have to do a software upgrade on the camera since the Kodak card files are different than Nikons.
