My Maytag Washer won't drain or spin

Inside the main control switch has many studs of plastic. They get worn out and don't work. See if it works on a different cycle like delicate. No work; then you need a new control switch. Either way you need a new control knob switch!

Maytag Neptune MAH8700A tha detergent drawer is filling up with water and running out of the drawer onto the floor not going into the tub.

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
Belt, Water Pump If the washer won't drain the pump belt might have broken or might have worn out. Check the belt and replace if it shows signs of excessive wear.

Drain Pump If the washer won't drain water the drain pump might be defective. It's also common for a small sock or other article of clothing to get caught in the drain pump or in the drain hose. Check both for an obstruction before replacing the pump.

Clogged Pump or Hose If the washer won't drain there might be a clogged pump or hose. It's common for small socks or other small clothing items to get into the water drain system and clog the hose leading to the pump or the pump itself. Remove the hoses from the pump in order to remove the article of clothing. Keep in mind that any water in the washer will pour out of the hoses when removed.

Drive Belt If the washer won't drain, should check the drive belt. If the belt is broken or if it isn't tight on the pulleys the washer won't drain properly, if at all.

Lid Switch Assembly If the washer won't drain the lid switch assembly might be defective. This is a very common problem. The lid switch assembly can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any electrical switches with an Ohm meter for continuity. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Door Lock Motor and Switch Assembly If the washer won't drain the door lock assembly should be checked. The door lock can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any switches on the door lock with an Ohm meter. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Drain Hose If the washer won't drain water check the drain hose. Be sure the hose did not get kinked behind the washer. Also, remove the hose from the pump and check it for obstructions.

Coin Trap If the washer won't drain the coin trap may be clogged. This washer is equipped with a device near the water pump called a coin trap. The purpose of this device is to trap any foreign materials that make their way down the drain. Normally, the coin trap can be accessed through an access panel. It is designed with the homeowner in mind and is normally easy to clean out.

I have a Maytag Neptune washer (model MAH5500BWW) that won't completely drain. It goes through the normal cycles but, but water still remains in the tub. Could the pump be out and how can you tell if...

Check the pump out flow of the drain hose, is it a good strong flow or does it seem weak and restricted. If the drain is slow the machine will stop before it is empty. Also if the drain hose is not vented, mounted too high in the air, or has a piece added on making it longer, it may degrade performance.

My maytag mtw5600tq1 washer won't hold water. Its

Hi,
Its sounds like you have a siphon going on, this happens when the drain hose it too low during fill and as the water enters the unit it exits through the drain hose. To stop this the drain hose needs to be higher than the tub itself, meaning: raise the drain hose behind the washer to about control panel area. This will or should stop the siphon effect and allow the water to remain in the tub. If the drain hose is low this siphon will start again.
I hope this helps

I have a maytag a8420 that is leaking all over the floor, is there an easy fix or is this something I need a repair man for?

Remove the front panel and inspect the drain hoses from the tub to the pump and the pump to the drain oulet.
If they are OK,
Your tub seal is damaged.
This is a job for a professional repairman.
This machine is well worth the repair.

How do I adjust the pump belt on Maytag washer ?

Depends on model.
For top load units with two belts under botton panel, tilt empty washer against a wall to allow access to belts and loosen the 3 pump mounting screws. See page: http://www.applianceaid.com/maywash_belt.html
