Question about Iomega 1TB Home Media Network Hard Drive (34337BN)

Open Question

Iomega 1tb NAS drive shows up in its own program (storage manager) as well as when I access it via the ip address in a browser, but it will not allow me to access the drive from my network folder, and it also wont let me map the drive at all. I honestly had it plugged in and worked 24 hours ago. What am I doing wrong? I have done 3 restarts (hard and soft) as well as a factory reset and a format. I can't figure it out.

SOURCE: My Iomega Network Hard Drive has a Problem

I had a similar problem with an iomega DHD250-NS network storage device.

After a sudden power outage none of the files on the drive were available, and it only displayed a makecgi file.

I removed the internal IDE drive and installed it as a secondary on a Windows based PC. I then used the Linux file explorer (explorer2fs) to restore all of my files onto the Windows based PC.

I then reset the drive, and copied all of my files back on to it.

It worked for me, I hope it helps you.

SOURCE: Iomega StorCenter 1TB (2x500gb) no longer working with AFP

same problem, except oddly one AFP mount works & the other doesn't. Since permissions are limited in SMB access, I can't even pull the data off. Thinking of just pulling drives (mirrored RAID) and putting into new enclosure. If that'll even work

SOURCE: iomega nas nhdd2m storcenter is accessible on

It means your harddrive is not recognized properly in NAS for that reconnect harddrive to NAS then check. You can access your NAS in network with it's ip so it means network is fine but issue with harddrive recognization in NAS. So make sure harddrive is working fine and detected on NAS. Also access NAS with it's ip then reset all settings then reconfigure it and share. Then check.
Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

SOURCE: the folders for the iomega storage drive no longer

Make sure you are logged in as the Administrator of your computer. Power cycle (turn it off and back on) the device. If that doesn't fix the problem. Try factory resetting the unit (depress the reset button on the back of the unit for 4-5 seconds).

The following may help:

You can either use the management software: Iomega Discovery Tool Home : Read First
or
Instructions to Direct Connect to NAS:
Unplug the NAS from the router
Unplug the pc from the router (if the pc is wireless, disable wireless)
Using Ethernet Cable, plug the NAS directly into the pc with no other devices attached.
Restart the NAS and wait for it to boot COMPLETELY 100%
The NAS will request an address from the PC which will be an APIPA address (this is a 169. address)
Open up your Start Menu and type in CMD in the search bar and select the CMD program.
Type in "arp -a" in the cmd prompt
The first time you use the arp -a in a cmd prompt, it gives you the 169.x.x.x address of "The PC"
You may have to arp -a twice to get the NAS address.
The second time you use the arp -a I will get another APIPA address in the 169.x.x.x address
Take the new address and use it in the web browser just like normal to access the device

In your office network, for sure, you have a DHCP server who gave the IP addresses to all devices for that network and this seems to be the reason for why you could see your NAS. On home, you also need a DHCP server. You don't say anything about you home network. The best idea is to just make a temporary network with 2 devices: your computer and your NAS by connecting the NAS directly to your computer's network adapter, set the IPV4 IP for that adapter to the same class addresses as your NAS was set by default (usually NAS had "192.168.x.y" where "x" could be 0, 1 or 2 "y" could be any value between 1 and 254, but mostly, 1) and try to access it via http to manage him (need a user name and a password). For NAS default address and username and password, consult NAS user manual. Access it with from your preferred browser using: \\192.168.x.y
Once you gain the control, cut off his DHCP service and tell him to accept the IP address from the network defined DHCP. (btw: one normal DHCP server is allowed on one network! Cascaded DHCP also is allowed, but it's a little bit complicated)
Good luck!

Mapped nas, but there is no open option to access the

If you have mapped it, you should see the public share in my computer.

If you don't see it there, then try remapping it again, by doing the following:

Right click on my computer > select 'map network drive' > In the folder option type: \\**IP address or name of the drive as you see it network**\public > select 'finish'. If this is executed successfullymt he drive will appear in my computer with a drive letter (normally Z: - If you left this option as it was). It would be named either by it's IP address or the name, depending on which one you used to map it with.

Hope this helps!

Cant able to access the 1tb network storage

Consider a few things that may solve the problem:
1. this is how I always like to test; shut down the NAS drive for a minute and reboot; once rebooted see if it is accessible
2. need to know the ip address of the NAS drive and make sure that ip is not blocked by your system firewall (e.g. add that ip into trusted address on the firewall program; or temporarily disable any anti-virus or firewall and see if you can access, and if you can then it is the issue of firewall),
3.unless you have customized the settings, open my computer and on the addressbar type type the ip address if you know (if it is WD Mybook World then you can also try typing \\mybookworld on the address bar); in this case also try it by temporarily disabling any anti-virus or firewall program
4. one way you can figure out the ip for your nas drive is through the router's homepage; since I don't know your router type I can't give you specific steps; but try to get onto the router's main page and see the client's list or DHCP Client's List or something similar where you should see an ip also assigned to the NAS drive which is connected to the same router.

Post the feedback what happens... we'll see... good luck !!!
