You enabled the number lock option which turns some keys to numbers so that a 10-key number pad is created using the 987 on the top row, lkj becomes oiu becomes 654, lkj becomes 321, etc.

    When the numeric keypad is turned on, these keys can be used to type numbers.
    To activate the numeric keypad press the Fn+ keys. When the keypad is activated, the Pad Lock status indicator is lit. Press Fn+ keys again to turn off the numeric keypad.

    sorry, messed up a bit.. uiop becomes 456*, jkl becomes 123, the m becomes 0,

    Basically, number lock enables a 10-key pad that is easier to use than how the numbers are from 1-0 across the top keys,

    7 8 9

    uio= 4 5 6

    jkl= 1 2 3

Sounds like your keyboard is sticking

Unplug the keyboard and do the following

Look on the bottom you should see some screws, remove the screws and leaving the keys facing down, pop the two pieces apart.

Leaving the electronics aside you can now continue with the following instructions
Ok, once you have the two pieces, all of the keys should stay in there proper place, take and soak that in the sink with some soap and water.
Moving all the keys to get the water to flow through.
Then dry off the Keyboard and vacuum all the excess water off, then replace and screw back together, you should be good to go.

I wouldn't recommend a dishwasher, this could get to hot and melt the keys

    then better open the keyboard, take a soft brush and clean everything.

2 week old msi wind. when typin it

This is a very bothersome problem and msi should find fix for it but in the mean time just hit the fn key and f3 to make it stop.
You will have to do this each time you turn on your computer then typing will be ok.
Good luck

IBM Thinkpad type 2366 Key pad is giving me the numbers instead of letters. please help

Check to see if you have a num-lock key. It may be on, causing the numbers to appear instead of the letters. This just happened to me last night.

Good Luck and leave feedback if this is successful, because it affects my rating as an expert.

Keys qweruiop not working on startup (first 15 minutes or so) on physical keyboard on HP G60-533CL Notebook PC running Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit). Keyboard Driver Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft...

Take the computer to a qualified technician, who can replace the keyboard, as the least-expensive "try" at trouble-shooting.

Since a keyboard transmits "codes" to the motherboard,
e.g., left-shift-has-been-pressed, and left-shift-has-been-released,
and the motherboard interprets those codes, it is NOT likely that
the motherboard is misinterpreting the codes, especially given that
the "bad' letters are in a straight line on your keyboard.

Find an external USB keyboard, and plug it in.
If it works correctly in the first 15 minutes, then the problem is NOT the motherboard.
