The CPU heatsink has it's thermal paste dried. Fixed one A6000 with this fault. Works perfect now.

Re: Asus A6000 power shutdown

I found this problem really similar to the famous ring of death in xbox 360, thermal paste alone won't solve the problem, you have to increase the pressure beetween dissipator and cpuand it couldnotbe easy. In my case in a very artigianal way, i put 2 pieces of round gum and two coins just below the cpu cover in corrispondence with the disipator and i closed eveything with tape. Now if the tape mantain its position, laptop work!!!if you are a pc expert maybe you could change the xclamp and the dissipator.

Re: Asus A6000 power shutdown

Shutdown can be caused by several things.

Easiest, operating system corruption...

Try starting up your laptop, and hit the "setup" key, usually F2 or Del... once there, leave it running for 15 to 20 minutes. If it stays up, then you have a problem with the OS.

If it dies again, you may have issues with cooling of the chipset or CPU. Make sure your system gets sufficient air cooling. some systems have the ability in the setup menu to monitor the CPU core temps and voltages. Watch these also.

Last, but not least, you have a power supply problem. This too will cause a shutdown...  Hope this helps...

Notebook Crashes to PowerOff state when lid is closed

Running intense program with the lid closed will cause a sharp rise in temperature making the laptop hotter than it should be leading it into a shutdown. The second issue, windows should be shutdown properly rather than closing the lid, this makes the operational system unstable and will cause files to corrupt eventually.

Guys pls help me on this..about my asus X50GL series,if i started to play a game on my laptop, after a second or a minute my laptop will you have any idea on this?.,.

When you play any games on a laptop it will heat up because the graphics card or chip will be working much more than usual... Graphics cards consume a lot of power and thus put off a lot of heat when taxed. If it runs fine for a minute and then shuts down you are more than likely having an overheating issue...

Check your exhaust fans and vents to make sure they are not all clogged up with dust and dirt... If they are then clean them out with a can of air...

You should also get yourself a decent laptop cooler... They are pretty cheap and will prolong the life of you laptop for sure... Heat Kills Electronics...

My aspire one d257 will shut down automotically afte a few minutes

Try running it on a hard flat surface and see if it runs better. The shutting down could be due to the machine overheating due to poor airflow. Try cleaning the air vents around the case, make sure they are not dusty.

Asus A6000 entertainment-how can i slow down

This is not a computer problem, but rather a problem of the game setup.
Start your game and go to "setup" or "options" or something like that. One of the options will be related to "mouse speed" or "mouse sensitivity". Turn the speed or sensitivity down a couple of notches, save the new settings and try the game again.

Asus A6vm Laptop shuts down, the optical drive powers on its own.

Try to uninstall the software "asus instant fun" from add/remove software. Go start/controlpanel/addremove software.

Try to reinstall the software if you want it, maybe that gonna solve your problem.

You can also check your BIOS and see if you can Inactive the Music Button.

but try to uninstall it first, and restart your computer. then shut it down and see if it restart by it self.
make sure you do a full shutdown and not Hibernate or sleep mode.

Get back to me if it doesent help and we try something else

Laptop doesn't work on battery after charging

If you are planning to open the notebook make sure the cpu cooler is mounted flush and has the most possible amount of contact with the cpu for heat transfer. I don't know about yours but normally in bios you can set a fatal temperature shutdown. Try to look up what cpu you have (when you open the case) and see if maybe the temperature is set too low. Then you would be able to reset the temperature to something higher if possible and this would solve the overheating shutdown problem.
